Timing attacks

I couldn't find a thread on this, but then I really didn't know what terms to search.

The little window that pops up once you decide to attack an enemy province -- the window that allows you to select the precise date and hour to launch the attack -- for some reason, it doesn't always pop up.

I mostly have this problem with ground units, rarely with air units. Sometimes I have to cancel and reorder an attack a dozen times before I get the window. And -- here's the greater problem -- even when I do, the time of my unit's attack doesn't change! This can be a real problem when trying to attack from two or more provinces into the same province. I want them all to arrive at the same time, but the computer makes the fastest one arrive first. Well, sometimes the fastest unit can't handle the fight on its own, and gets royally skewered before the reinforcements come.

No matter what I do, even if I finally get the window to pop up, the computer will not change the time of the attack. It always makes the unit go in at its earliest possible opportunity.

Am I doing something wrong?

There is a feature that causes the units to synchronise their attacks. If yopu cancel the momevement then click on xomething else liek the diplomacy screen. Then go back to unit, you should be able to set a new attack time.

I realize that, but that's not the problem I'm having. I'm having in a sense an opposite problem.

Many times when I order an attack, I get the time that I had selected for my last attack. I realize that this is the default setting, and that I can adjust it at will.

But my problem is that -- far from giving me the same attack time as I had selected for another unit, it will sometimes automatically select the earliest possible time. And the box that allows me to select the time will not come up. And if, after clicking and clicking, the box somehow unaccountably does pop up, changing the time in the box does not change the time in the unit screen: it still says that it will arrive at the original, earlier time.

So what I want to know is: how do I make sure I get the timing box to appear? And, how do I make sure that the time I select once I get the box will be the acutal time that the unit attacks?

I must not be making myself clear.

Even when I get the timing screen, I often cannot change the time that the units arrive.

Example: I order IV. Corps to attack Krakow. IV. Corps is all inf with artillery so it's slow. It says that the corps will get there Sept. 12, 13:00 hours.

Then I order XI. Corps to attack. XI. Corps is mech with engineers, so it's fairly fast -- faster than IV. Corps, certainly. When I order XI. Corps to attack, the timing window doesn't come up. It says that XI. Corps will arrive on Sept. 12 at 04:00.

With enough clicking, I can get the timing box to come up. I change the time to 13:00 and click "OK". But the time XI. Corps says it will arrive does NOT change. It still says 04:00.

That's the problem I'm having, which is more troubling that not being able to get the box. Because even when I get the box, it doesn't always convey my orders.

Ok I get ya =)

You need to cancel any exisiting move before you bring the time window up.

If you already have a move plotted for a given unit before you bring the time window up you can change the time and click ok but it won't have any effect.

Edit : and that _is_ a bug btw.
