January 1541 Game Crash...1492 scenario

As I indicated in the subject line, my game will crash (i.e. return to the Windows screen) while playing the 1492 scenario shortly after the game calender/clock turns over to January, 1541. It's done this twice now, with the only things in common being that I was playing as the Ottoman Empire and had added an explorer a few "months" earlier when presented the option. After the first time, I made sure all virus detection, firewalls, and other programs were completely shut off, as well as the game music...but the little gremlin struck again!!! I'm running with a Windows XP Home os, 1.7GB Pentium 4 processor, 256MB RAM, 64MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX graphics card, SB Live! 1024 digital sound card, 40GB ATA-100 hd, and a 16XDVD-Rom drive. If anyone has also experienced this and/or has a suggestion, I'd greatly appreciate it.:D

All that detail and you missed the one thing we need :) - what EU2 patch level are you on? 1.05 fixed most CTDs.

January 1541 game crash...1492 scenario

My apologies for omitting that important info...I do have the 1.0.5 patch installed, which I did before ever playing the game the first time. Also, I've not attempted to play any of the other scenarios yet, so I've no idea if anything similar might take place with them.

OK, send me the save game file pls. Zip up the .eug and .eug.cfg files for the problem game, and email to ataubman@ducros.com.au .

If they are OK under my 1.06 beta code, you'll have to wait for that (no ETA yet sorry), if they still crash I'll forward it on to Paradox for analysis. Thx.

1492 Scenario Crash - Solved!!!

When I first installed the game, it wouldn't play the opening movie, or move past that point so I could play the game. A tech from Strategy First suggested changing the avi file name to old_avi, which worked. When I found out about the 1.0.5 patch and installed it, I had forgotten to change the avi file name back. I happened to look in the game files and noticed this after the last reply here by Andrew T, uninstalled the game & patch, the reinstalled both properly...lo and behold, no more crash "bug", I've actually gotten to April 1554 in game time! Isn't it amazing what you'll discover if you take the time to go and look...hehehe! Andrew, thanks for the input and offer to check my files over.
