Dirty Atom Bomb

Newbie here. I am Germany in late 1939. I have developed the "dirty" atom bomb. I have a strategic bomber. After I developed the bomb it said I should now have one bomb. I want to start my conquest of Europe as I can now hurt Britian from across the channel. Unfortunately the bomb does not show up in my inventory. It said I should have one but nothing. I posted this in help section but 50 views and no one has an answer so it must be some sort of bug.

Are you sure you are using it correctly? I have not tried a dirty bomb, but the general process for nuking is as follows...

Click on the "army" containing your strategic bomber, then click on the icon to bring up the individual bomber "division". On the detail screen that appears, there is a small atomic icon in the top right. Click on that icon to load an atomic bomb onto that bomer unit.

There will now be a small nuclear icon on the bomer unit itself. select the "army" with that bomber and send it on a strategic bombing mission to the target you wish to nuke. Keep in mind if that flight is intercepted it may not complete its mission. But if all goes well, you will see a little mushroom cloud appear on the targeted province.

Good Luck!

I've got to question the atomic bomb research track. I have not played the game yet (next week!), so I don't know what these tracks look like. However, some history. The neutron was not discovered until 1936, and nuclear fission of uranium until 1939. Both of these events were more accidental than the result of any government-sponsored research effort. So it's unrealistic to suggest that devoting more resources to this area prior to 1939 would yield results. A random event around 1939 announcing the discovery of fission which then opens up the research track would be more appropriate.

We can haggle about the time and resources necessary to research and develop a crude bomb once the track is open and a decision made to proceed, but we're still talking about several years (at least 2-3, more likely 4-5, even for the US) before any weapons make it to the inventory. So to see that someone playing Germany has a bomb ready to go in 1939 is fantastical. And what would deliver it? B-29 heavy bombers and V-2 rockets were years away from development. This research track probably needs to be reconsidered.

In general I think we see too much late war equipment showing up fairly early in the game, so I do not think this is a nuke-only phenomena. However, I also believe we need to work through a few other issues before attempting to fine tune the research trees. For example, until the resources are stabilized and we really know what industrial output is possible from each nation, who is to say that research isn't balanced? I would be less worried about someone having a late model panzer or even a crude nuclear bomb in 1939 if getting there required absolutely all of their economic output for the past 3.5 years. That would simply make it a non-viable alternative path and giving players bad choices to avoid is part of giving them choices at all.
