Chineese Colonial Empire

I was playing the EEP 1419 campaing as Byzantium. After 100 yrs of fighting and other things I decided it is high time to have a look on the world. I succesfully exchanged maps with Spain and I started looking around. I was amazed to see that the countries that should have had colonies, had only a colony or two while China had a large colonial empire mostly in S America and India, well they expanded in Africa too.

This never happened in 1.00, but in 1.03 China is the bad boy.

Any suggestions ?

But it can happen if they choose Inward Perfection, too. In fact, it always happens. There are some ideas floating around in the beta forum to address this.

I just want to know how they discover South America in the first place. In the game I'm playing, I did a Columbus (hey, it gets lonely as Brunei!) and in 1550 or so China had colonies all over South America but nowhere else...

Ah well, at least they haven't conquered the Incas. Yet...

Always happens? Maybe I've just been lucky but in four seperate games I've never once seen a Chinese colony in the new world. Guess I'm an outlier....

They start with an explorer, Zheng He, who lives for about twenty years. With no AI naval attrition he can just about discover the globe by himself.

I was actually quite amused in my current game when La Plata formed with Han culture. :p

This is a tuning issue that we hope to get fixed, so I'll label it "not a bug" unless VKV or Viper have other thoughts.

The underlying problem is the ai naval attrition cheat.

IMO this problem and others would be solved by reintroducing naval attrition for the AI with a scalable percentage chance dependant on the current attrition value to hightail it back to the closest friendly port.

Then again I'm not a coder and don't know if this is possible or not. I'd like to think so. ;)

Well, you should know that I was shoked to see the Chineese everywhere, and the computer player should get the same attrition that the human player gets. Any sugestions for an event that keeps removing their colonists or money (it must activate itself yearly)?

You can easyly explore the same amount as the computer with Zheng He. Maybe because China is the single strongest nation in 1419 everybody agreed to give military access. That means, you can use foreign ports to reduce the naval attrition counter. Though The African West coast is a little long even for Zheng he when the closest base is in Zanzibar...

It is excacerbated by the fact that the AI suffers no Naval attrition. This is counterbalanced by the fact that the AI isn't terribly effective at using navies, but it does lead to a bunch of very early discoveries.

The other thing to consider is if China decides on internal harmony (or whatever the event is called) that it loses it's maps (if possible) given that this is more or less what happenned, and would accurately simulate what historically happenned.

It has been suggested that the naval attrition cheat is no longer needed since there is the "automatic return to port" thingy when attrition has gotten very high for human. Just apply the rule to the ai, too. With any luck, this might get pursued by Paradox.

Now if you want Paradox to disable the attrition cheat this is what you have to do:
-send Paradox people 5 e-mails/day with : please,please,please etc....
-post in every topic your request
-and make topics everywhere about this

It sounds hard, doesn't it ?

It didn't work with 1-province annex. :D

Allright, enough of this. I think there is a good thread in the GD for discussion of the ai attrition cheat.

Cheers
