Aragon/Spain loses capital when Aragon released as vassal.

Playing as Aragon in 1.05, I managed to diploannex Castile and become Spain. My capital stays in Aragon and does not move to Castilla (which is just fine).

However, I now have the option to release Aragon as a vassal, giving them the province of Aragon (my capital). If I do so, I am left without a capital, which means an immediate 10% drop in income from all my continental provinces, among other things.

It doesn't make sense that a country can release its own capital province as a vassal.

On a separate but slightly related note, I also have the option to release Castile, who gets Castilla as a capital if I do. They get the Castillian flag, but their map color is still yellow, which is not a major problem, but can be a little confusing if you don't pay close attention. I don't know if this would also be possible if I had started as Castile. Just like the above, Castile-become-Spain shouldn't be able to release its own capital as a vassal.

A CTD occurs when creating vassals which contain the capital province of the initiating nation (Spain freeing Castille?) (see bug #13).

However you should have got a new capital somewhere, as Araanor says.

Areanor: Thanks for the tip, I thought I had checked pretty thoroughly, I even checked the Canaries and Sunda (I got maps from Portugal early on). Then after seeing the replies from you and AndrewT, I looked again. Sure enough, my capital is now in Fernando Po (I forgot I even had it).

AndrewT: Thanks for finding that. I didn't think to search for "Castile" so I didn't spot #13 there. Still, I don't quite know what the skull reference is; attrition of some kind?

I didn't experience any CtD's, but I didn't play it for long. To be honest, I wasn't seriously planning on releasing Aragon. I was looking for a way to lower BB by a few points, and in scrolling I noticed Aragon was listed. I thought this was kind of peculiar, so I saved the game and then released them just to see what would happen. I have no intention of playing the game out that way.

Sorry for the error in not noticing Fernando Po. Also I still think the lack of color difference between Spain and Castile is worth noting.

The skull is a default display object, that shows on the top line of the screen when this situation occurs. I was posting those bugs as much to warn you of what might happen to your game if you continue; but as you just did it as a test it's not an issue.

PS: isn't there a key that takes you to your capital, like Home or C or something?
