Almost useless Spanish historical event ...

Hi,

Playing a GC as Castile/Spain, I have progressed into the 1640's. Early in this century, I received a historical Excellent minister event, ie. the one that improves your monarch's skills for 240 (!) months. (I have forgotten the event title right now)

Naturally, I was pleased. That is, until my monarch died on me 3 months later. The new monarch didn't inherit those temporary skill improvements. So I could only enjoy 3 out of 240 months the minister's services.

I think the two "excellent ministers" that spain gets actually LOWERS your monarchs abilities by 3! At least thats what happened when i last played Spain back in 1.02:p If that still is the case then I dont think u should be too upset:)

Well, when the excellent minister event occured, I checked the monarch's ratings. They were 4, 5 and 5 green dots, respectively.

So I guess that, in v1.05, the event ratings are correct.

Yes. But what is the point to say the change will be for 240 month when it is determined, that the bonus will only last for three, as the deathdates of the monarch are fixed?

(a) Was it an historical death? Don't monarchs sometimes die randomly?

(b) It makes no sense because you're looking at it from a player point of view. If you looked at it from the point of view of Spain and her government, they don't know that the monarch is about to die. (Or maybe they know he's sick and that's why they appoint the minister). But the king dies shortly afterwards, and a young and healthy monarch rises to the throne, removing the need for the minister.

So from an in-game perspective, it makes absolute sense. And if you haven't experienced the events before, you as a player might get some storyline value out of it.

You can tell I read (and write) AARs ;)
