It was only with Northern Crusades when chronicles were written of our ancient rulers. They lost the battle against the military Holy Orders machinery. But they were there, and they battled it hard.
Therefore it is a bit sad that in this otherwise brilliant game we can't play out the alternative scenario. What if great warchief Viestards managed to unite Letts under his banner! What if Talivaldis or Visvaldis were better politicians. And even at 1241 when most of Latvia is under Teutones we still had Semigallia free, with another Semigallian hero Nameisis yet to be born.

But all of this drama can't be played out! Because none of those characters are here in the game.

1204 START DATE

All major players are still independent chiefs and should be playable, some are Orthodox tributaries to Russian Principalities, others are Romuva pagans related to Lithuanians. Viestards is shining on the battlefield. Initially he allied the Order to beat off Lithuania, until he understood he was being played.
CK2 - in 1204 all provinces in modern Latvian territory (Riga, Tukums, Semigalia, Courland, Vanema, Jersika, Talava, Latgale, Selija) are all ruled by the Livonian Order.
There is no playable character there.

History - in 1204 only Riga belongs to Livonian Order/ Riga Bishopric.
Talava is independent Tributary of Novgorod - ruled by Chief Talivaldis of Beverina (Orthodox Lettigalian)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tālivaldis
Jersika is Tributary State of Polotsk - ruled by Chief Visvaldis of Jersika (Orthodox Lettigalian of Rurikid Dynasty)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visvaldis
Latgale - no good solution here due to it consisting of both Talava (Atzele) and Jersika lands. Should be given to Visvaldis.
Selija - is independent. Ruler - unknown. But later we have Tūšis, who ruled Lithuanian part of Selija. He would make a better ruler than some generic guy. Make him Romuva Lettigalian.
Semigallia - is independent. But ally of Livonian Order at this start date. Ruler - Chief Viestards of Tervete (Romuva Lettigalian, Brilliant Strategist but at least initially shortseeing politician :( )
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viestards
Vanema - is independent. Ruler - Chief Lamekins of Bandava (Romuva Lettigalian)
https://lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamekins
Tukums - Ok to give to Riga.
Kurzeme - is independent. Ruler - unknown.

1220 START DATE
Talava and Jersika already lost, previous rulers and their families are now vassals of Livonian Order. Why not make them playable though? Curonia and Semigallia still independent. Big battles & victories against Order at Saule and Durbe are still ahead.
CK2 - in 1220 all provinces ruled by the Livonian Order.
There is no playable character there.

History -
Riga, Latgale, Tukums, Selija - belongs to Livonian Order (Riga Bishop directly)
Talava - tribe should be a playable vassal to Livonian Order, ruled by Ramekis of Beverina (Catholic Lettigalian, son of Talivaldis).
https://lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rameka
Jersika - tribe should be a playable vassal to Livonian Order, ruled by Visvaldis of Jersika Rurikid. Latgale already given to Order directly.
Semigallia - independent tribe. Ruler Viestards of Tervete (Romuva Lettigalian, Brilliant Strategist)
Vanema - independent tribe. Ruler - Chief Lamekins of Bandava (Romuva Lettigalian)
Kurzeme - independent tribe. Ruler - unknown.

1241 START DATE
Ruling families of Talava and Jersika have died out. Curonia becomes a dependent subject with no Lettigallian ruler, just some minor vassals. Semigallia is the only Lettigallian Romuva province that still stands strong after battle of Saule. They are allied to Zhemaitians.
CK2 - in 1220 all provinces ruled by the Livonian Order.
There is no playable character there.

History -
Riga, Latgale, Tukums, Selija, Talava, Jersika - belongs to Livonian Order (Riga Bishop directly)
Vanema, Kurzeme - theoretically there was a Curonian uprising which ended shortly after 1242 with Livonian Order victory, so could also make them belong to Livonian Order directly.
Semigallia - independent tribe. Ruler Shabis (Šabis) of Tervete (Romuva Lettigalian), as a little bonus for Latvians if you could make him having a son Nameisis with strong trait.
