I don't get this. Colonizing has never been easier. You send your troops in, take everything. Coalition forms and you enforce peace to war again. You can take over 15 provinces in the first war in northeast, before you've even finished a single colony! Take another 20 in the second. In a few short years you have two 10+ province colonies bordering each other.

Are you leaving your colonies unsupported?
Yeah it's easy to exploit this shitty broken system to conquer vast swathes of tags that should not exist on the map the way they do. It needs to be fixed.

They bugged out federations/results of peace deal vs natives, which is the only legitimate issue there. It's a big issue though, it breaks NA badly. Once it's fixed it should be fine.
My latest game as Austria makes me cry. I look over at NA to see the Huron and MikMaq consistently defeating Britain and Spain and forming superstates.
There is a danger that in continued development, the team loses sight of what this game is meant to actually be.
Never mind the awful slowness now. 8 years in and the game is still not working as it should be.
Bring on EU5.

It's not that they're "defeating" majors, they're losewinning. It's bugged. They can literally lose wars but lose practically nothing, then steal land using a broken interaction with federations w/o fighting a war. It's not hard to gain territory when only one side can effectively take land regardless of war outcome.

Without that bug, it wouldn't look like this.

Native Americans in North America are unstoppable. I don't see how it is possible to colonize when they can declare war on your colonies without declaring war on country that owns the colony.
As others have said, you use "Enforce Peace" and take all their provinces. The end result is that your colonial nations grow faster than ever before. Check out this ironman screenshot from my last Castile game around 1550:

I've never been able to expand so rapidly in North America in previous patches. Natives aren't "unstoppable.". Natives are weaker and less effective than at any point in EU4's history.

Definitely not true. Regardless of recent changes, we're not in the pre-CoP days for example, where there were 3 TAGS north of Mexico that all had generic ideas and the worst tech group in the game. Natives can use boats now too, so they have more agency over reform timing.

Natives have had some VERY low places in EU 4's patch cycles.

That's only true if you're playing a native tribe yourself. If you're a colonizer, they've never been more pathetic. They suicide against your colonial nations while screaming "Take! My! Stuff!" In response, you hit the Enforce Peace button and...take their stuff. The end result, as I said previously, is that your North American colonial nations grow at the fastest pace in EU4 history--and I've played since Day 1, so I don't mean the last few patch cycles when I say that.

What makes it easier is what you've already mentioned--there are way more native tags than ever before, and they grow well, too. Then they suicide against the player. You don't even have to spend time and a diplomat fabricating a claim. Just enforce peace when your colonial nation gets attacked, smack their armies around, and take as many of their provinces as you want. This makes North American expansion the fastest its ever been. Building up a colonial nation with colonists takes a long time. Conquering 15-20 provinces per war over and over again when some allied tribal nations attack you is way more effective.

The issue is when its the AI doing the colonising. Like my recent Austria game, where Huron and Mikmaq are regularly defeating GB. france and Spain and now huge federations with a few others with no european colonies at all. So much for Europa Universalis.

Not sure what you're alluding to tbh. I'm talking about a game that at its very core is about European Colonialism. I realise that isn't a very nice subject for some, but that is what the game is about.
