With the optimization patch i finally got to sit down and play this game and finally got to play past 1 charecter and it has been fun playing as santa claus(and his offspring called santa) founded scandinavia, reformed a pagan religion finally, founded a merchant republic, tons of raiding and kidnapping need elves for santas sweatshop and its been fun but a few question

1) why is my emperor of the scandinavian merchant republic less of an emperor then a feudal one? i cant remember the malus but it kept giving me the feeling that i was less of an emperor because i wasent feudal and it kept me from marrying certain women.

2) why do you pay for raiders while raiding? i could never get the raiders to spawn from my marshal so i had to use my own however when i was tribal 1-2 ducats a month tops is not enough to sustain any amount of raiding for any amount of time why don't they just take the money i get while raiding to pay for themselves? instead of me having to go into debt while raiding.

3) why do pagan rulers constantly try invasions they cannot win? i had 30-40% malus to my religious authority and because of this it made it impossible to reform without cheats it was really annoying.

4) why are prisoners in my court and why is their no release all function? because as much fun as it is having nearly 100 people in my prison its not fun when they are in my court on my charecter screen because it gets in the way of me looking for important people and when i decided to release them because they were in the way it took forever to realease them since i had to 1 person at a time.

1) Rulers of Merchant Republics have to pay for noble women

2) The amount of money you get from pillaging is most of the time higher than the cost. If it is not, then you are doing it wrong (as soon as the Viking Age starts, you can raid very rich lands, like Rome or Venice)

the first one makes some sense i guess i noticed i had to pay for them but it still felt like my marriage power was less.

the second i understand but actually getting the funds to go raiding without breaking my poverty stricken country takes forever. we are raiding ya know pillage and stuff why cant they just take there upkeep from what we are raiding. once i actually had money by reforming to a merchant republic i started making actual money so i could go raiding and turn all my rulers into sea kings

Currently your raiders pillage and you get the gold, which is then partly given back to them since you must pay them. It would be the same result if they were pillaging, took their part and then gave you the rest. There would be no difference. It's just how ti's made.
