Start out with Haesteinn in Nantes in the 867 start date. Conquer all Brittany Counties as many OPMs in the Mediterranean till you demesne limit is maxed out. Don't forget to raise Centralization and create two duchy titles and a Kingdom title (Brittany). Invade Egypt! You need at least 20k troops. Siege down as many non-wargoal counties as possible. Don't get too greedy, win the war when you can before too many Sunni allies join the defensive side. Conquer Arabian and Indian Counties as far away as possible to get to the Lanka Kingdom in the south. This is a very save spot to slowly conquer the Indian continent. Build as many retinues as possible and move them to Lanka. When you have a somewhat save bridgehead release everything in Europe, Egypt or elsewhere. Now you can slowly eat up India like I did.
Try to have as few but strong vassals as possible. In my run nearly 2/3 of all conquests were done by my vassals. Support them when they lose a County conquest with joining their wars. As long you have Gavelkind don't create another Kingdom tier title. I created Lanka and lost Brittany through succession and it got destroyed when i conquered the County. I found myself in a position where I didn't need any Empire tier, King vassals or Imperial administration. I had a huge demesne through Gavelkind and abolished council. With not more then 10 vassals I was able to conquer hole India without a single rebellion.
i got especially lucky because a danish germanic tribe back in Europe managed to reform the germanic religion. It was very late in my game but in made me cross the finish line much faster.
Have fun!

Europe is divided between Fractellis in the British isles, Sunni blob in Iberia (as usual), Aztecs in the middle, an MR-Empire of Italia, a huge pagan mess in Scandinavia and eastern Europe and some last footholds of Catholics in the middle of all this.

I'm impressed how much the Aztecs have conquered. In my games they tend to take one kingdom and then sit on that forever without expanding any further.
