By Crusader Kings 2 standards I'm just gonna assume I'm still at rank 1 ( 85 hours played ).
So I'm gonna try and make this short, I rule Sweden + uncreated kingdom of kola and finland.
I setup my 4 daughters so their sons get Denmark and Norway in 20-30 years.
Now here's the problem, since I have a huge eastern border with Russia who has been going all revolts and massive land conquering , I thought it would be a good idea to be friends with them which did prove to be useful.
Fast forward to present day, it is 1207 and my 19 year old son in law, the Russian king, has died of poor health.
The new ruler of Russia is his 0 year old daughter and I can marry my 20 year old son ( not heir ) to her.
BUT, I can also marry him to the Polish queen who is 10, what do I do?

My son who I can marry has horrible stats and I'm already gonna rule denmark and norway *soon* so I don't know if I even wanna have Russia or Poland, what do I do?

Hi,

I think first of all we need to know what type of inheritance your kingdom is running (also maybe what religion and if pagan if reformed and if so how it was reformed). By what you've written without a war of some kind I don't see how you're going to rule Denmark and Norway *soon*.

Regardless IMO the odds are good that the 0 year old daughter is gonna die of something (murder plot, revolt and imprisoned, disease) long before she produces an heir. She might survive but IMO that's not the move to make, depending of course on how large Russia is compared to Poland. I'd marry him to the Polish queen. But understand either way you aren't going to get either kingdom, depending on inheritance and such. The marriage is strictly for alliance. Also understand that the product of either union is going to have a claim on your realm. The best case scenario is that you somehow do end up with both Denmark and Norway so you can form an empire, and hopefully the queen you marry your son off to gets deposed or something so you can later press the claim of your grandchild and voila that kingdom is now part of your realm.

edit: also you didn't mention how you married off your daughters. Since you haven't played long I'm going to assume you did a normal patrilineal marriage. If you want your grandsons to inherit anything but still be a part of your realm (and not end in game over) you need to marry your daughters matrilineally so they'll be of your house/kin. Assuming your current ruler is male and married patrilineally if you look at your children's portraits there should be a drop of blood icon to the top right to signify they are your kin.

I married off my daughters so their kids are of my dynasty don't worry I'm not that new :D. Anyways I married my son to the queen of Poland. Even if I could somehow manage to get Russia I don't really want to rule 2 Empires and stuff so yeah :D. Btw I'm Elective Aristocratic which I find the best option and I'm Catholic since I started 1066.
