Noob Advice Please...playing with Germany

Ok, so firstly please excuse the noob question

I have started my first game as Germany, its 1944:
1) My IC is on 330
2) I have an alliance with Italy,Japan,Spain,Portugal, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Slovakia and Yugoslavia looks set to join soonish
3) France, Denmark and most of Norway and GB is mine

That being said I am having some problems....
1) I must have attacked Gibraltar more times than I can remember, with mountain divisions and they keep on whipping me. Worryingly their number of troops in Gibraltar are increasing to 60. When I saw I was getting beaten all the time, I was moving off to give them some room and then cutting them off and wiping out 10 to 20 divisions at a time...but now they have so many troops there that I cant do that anymore, I cant take Gibraltar and its using up valuable troops.
2) All of mainland GB is mine except for that top province with a port...now they have 8 divisions there and growing and I cant take it neither because I dont have enough troops
3) Most worryingly USSR has declared war and they have more troops than China has chopsticks, I am losing ground to them and I cant generate more troops fast enough...not to mention my manpower looks like its getting dangerously low

Spain has hardly any divisions, neither has Portugal...both are just messing about anyway, Italy hasnt done anything and dont seem to have to many troops neither...Romania has a few troops, but they are just moving around their provinces...probably worried about USSR.

So...enough of the rambling.whinging...please help me answer the following:
1) How do I beat USSR, because they could cause me some serious pain here
2) How do I take Gibraltar?
3) How do I take that last GB mainland province?

Ok.

1. Its 1944 and the Soviet Union is about as strong as it can be. They likely have more infantry then you and likely more advanced infantry. You might have tanks but I'm guessing your oil supply is getting low.

The simple answer to your first question is that you can't beat the Soviets. You can put up a good fight but its likely that the Soviets will be in Berlin in no time. If you want to make an attempt at turning them back you'll need to encircle their forces and attack so that they can't retreat, destroying their divisions.

2. My suggestion here is that you need to convoy raid with as many subs as youo have and bomb convoys with your available aircraft in the sea area around Gibraltar. Cut off their supply and then you can walk over them

3. Same as Gibraltar, though you could simply send superior number of forces and relentlessly attack to break them since they have a relatively small defence.

330 ic in 1944 ?!?! base IC or total ?
if its total i suggest u restart and priorize on all industrial techs and build IC for at least 2 years.

on another note, i dont think u are doomed on your current game.

Gibraltar: back off from that province and they will move out of gibraltar so u can dash to gibraltar once they moved sufficient numbers out.

same for that port in north britain.

Russia: encircle, encircle and encircle while moving forward

Its total IC and I have built a fair few factories in the beginning, all my Industrial Techs are built as well...so what should I do differently there? Should Germany have more IC?

As for Oil, thats not a problem, I have over 200K in reserve. My main problem is I cannot generate enough troops fast enough, manpower is dropping and I cant get enough troops to counter USSR's attacks...they attack with 30 to 40 divisions everytime

Ok then you need to use tanks to encircle and cut off their supplies. 30-40 divisions without supplies are useless to the Soviets.

take the high ground

By that I mean control the air. The Soviets have to move either in attack or defeat. When they move, bomb them into dust with TAC and CAS. Find killing zones - a correct arrangement of a land province and air regions that let you give way to the Soviets and then surround and destroy them.

For the "fortified" one province places Gibral, and Stornaway(?), cut off supplies with subs, logistical bomb with TAC, then switch to Interdiction a couple days before your attack, Shore bombard if possible, use INF or MNT w/art brigades with appropriate leaders. You might concentrate on one and then switch to the other. Are you anywhere near nukes?

Yeah encircle dude. I am hoping you took advantage of the nuke advantage of germany. destroy the russians nearer to berlin and reduce the attacking flanks with your aircraft.

Encircle the russians around the coast and pin them down and destory, after you take care of the north hit the center hard... honestly the south will be the heartache, but 2 nukes will win the war.

Question. Are Nukes really economically viable for germany? Is all that research time and IC worth it, when u get them, u could be pretty wrapped up by then, especially if you used your resources carefully,

No. I almost never get play long enough to get nukes, but I presume that with a concentration on their research and development you could have enough nukes by 47-48 to cripple either US or USSR. Far, far too late in my opinion. Besides, whats the fun of simply pressing the button and waiting for half a dozen nukes to whack the other country? IMO winning in a more conventional way is far more amusing
