Nonstop crashing

After the latest update on Steam the game crashes nonstop.

If I click on a game save then click on a second save it's an instant crash. In game I'm lucky if I get a full year in before it crashes.

Since it takes 10 minutes on a good PC to load the game to begin with it's now completely worthless.

Thanks for letting me know to avoid EU4.

What version and checksum show on the main game menu?

If you start a fresh game does it play OK? If you then save it, exit, and reload it does it go OK? (IOW is this issue only happening on saves from older patches?).

Are you loading any mods?

It's almost definitely the patch. Everybody's having problems.
