Nonadaptive is a free trait for Hive Minds?

Well if it is 40%+ you can colonize it, about pop growth you can take fast breeding at the cost of 1 which would mean that you would still have 1 bonus point from nonadaptative.

On the other hand, needing 40% means that Extremely Adaptive gives you every planet from the start of the game.

I would suggest putting your early game into growth since you won't be getting migration boosting your colonies, then once you have all the biological ascension perks start putting in nonadaptive to get extra points since you don't need the growth then.

Biological ascension makes genemodding super fast and versatile, so you can swap perks in and out basically on a whim.

Yes, but I'm not sure if a 4 point trait worth it.
Oh, heck yes it is!

The threshold to be able to colonsie is 40% habitability. With Extremely adaptive you got that everywhere but Tomb Worlds and tertiary worlds with penalties.
Combine it with Mastery of Nature as your first Ascenion Perk pick and you can pick and fully use all the nicest planets.

It will take decades until you unlock habitability increasing tech and/or all the tileblockers. But EA+Master of Nature.

One thing about your original idea to keep in mind:
Biological ascension T2 does allow you to remove poitive and add negative traits. As long as you change the habitability, you could replace Extremly adaptiv with Non-Adaptive.

Quite the opposite, hive minds don't even have access to robots so they more than anyone else including fanatical purifiers need to have their own pops colonizing every available planet and until you unlocked gene modding the only way to do so is by increasing the habitability of your pops. Even after you unlocked gene modding it is easier to simply not spend bio research countinue with your super adaptible one species and as others have said it affects your pop growth as well which is important.

Normally you can not.

With the 2nd Tier Biological Ascension you can "remove positive and add negative traits". Otherwise you might not be able to use half the additional traits, as they lock out against other common traits (Intelligent and the Adaptive series).

At first this sounded like a blandly wrong statement, but if you think about it, I feel like OP isn't wrong.
Happyness is a non-concern.
-10 habitability will have no relevant impact on colonizeable worlds early on, and by the time you were to get enough habitability modifiers to colonize off-type without non-adaptive, you could very well have teched into genetics anyways. More likely due to the fact it's THE ascension path for Hiveminds. And then you can just remove or even reverse the trait.
And growth can be, as correctly stated, entirely negated by Rapid Breeders.

Arguably, the trait still eats up 66% of the Rapid Breeders trait, and effectively locks in another trait slot, and prevents you from taking Adaptive early on.

Thus I would say, it's a very strong combo pick, albeit not necessaryly a 'free' one. Something like Solitary would be 'free no brainer trait points', but (THANK T'KRELL) is disabled for Hiveminds.

My most recent hive start has 5 "green" habitability planets within the starting area of control, and another dozen or so within easy colonisation distance. All thanks to +20 habitability from extremely adaptive.

With non-adaptive, I *might* have two green worlds in that case, and virtually none within easy reach.


I'm *very* fond of extremely adaptive, fast breeding hives. My only problem is running out of influence for colonisation because I have so many planets available to colonise.
