Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter, a german war drama following a group of friends through the war. Some join the whermacht, some stay behind. It is a good mix of drama and action.
edit: the English name is generation war.
Though I've never seen it, I've heard Fury is surprisingly good, or at least better than it has right to be.some others are not so good (Fury and Pearl Harbour).
The atmosphere, music, set pieces, and opening scene are all awesome, everything else not so much.Enemy at the Gates (should be known to all I guess)
I've actually seen that movie, here in Canada! I enjoyed it, but it sadly doesn't even have an English Wikipedia page.El Alamein (not known outside of Italy as far as I know. Fighting scenes are cheap, the rest is ok)
Also really good, but I find it weirdly comical that Clint Eastwood is the only person in Hollywood show a sympathetic view toward, and try to explain the views of the Japanese.Letters from Iwo Jima
Classic! And a Canadian... It also has a Canadian character... We need attention! The great escape- forget the year, has US and British troops.
Yes, forgot about that, been a while since I last saw it.Classic! And a Canadian... It also has a Canadian character... We need attention!
Believe me, Fury is a pile of. Some described it as worth of "The Expendables".Though I've never seen it, I've heard Fury is surprisingly good, or at least better than it has right to be.
Should be on IMDB thoughI've actually seen that movie, here in Canada! I enjoyed it, but it sadly doesn't even have an English Wikipedia page.
I particularly liked how it goes hand-in-hand with the Flags of our Fathers. Almost the same scenario but seen from two very different points of view in all possible ways. I should watch both again actually. Also really good, but I find it weirdly comical that Clint Eastwood is the only person in Hollywood show a sympathetic view toward, and try to explain the views of the Japanese.
Probably one of the best war movies out there. It's definitely something different.
That's Korean War, right?Oh and for a suggestion, I suggest the Korean movie My Way. It's not the most historically accurate, though it's vaguely based off a real guy, but it's still pretty damn good. Definitely worth a watch.
- Fury saw a lot of flak because it did not portrayed US soldiers as paladins in shining armour and german soldiers as mostsuperbeliteforceinuniverse like western movies typically do.Though I've never seen it, I've heard Fury is surprisingly good, or at least better than it has right to be.
No, it's World War 2. It's vaguely inspired by Yang Kyoungjong, a Korean guy who was in the Japanese army, the Soviet army, and the German army. He was originally conscripted into IJA in 1938, and his service ended when he was captured by U.S troops in Normandy. That's Korean War, right?
