Historically speaking, it was unusual for a lowborn to reside in the court of a lord. The jew, eunuch, and warrior events basically fit the bill, perhaps another event could be added for a talented administrator.

Mechanically speaking, they cause the game to be a lot slower than it could be, and make most lords marry lowborns, which is both ahistorical and makes the alliance system less effective. Almost all situations that make them necessary could easily be rectified with employment decisions.

Seeing lowborn characters should be a rarity, something that happens constantly.

Well a lowborn could be very rich, especially early in the time line. So they might be at court for business reasons.

So long as you don't breed your lowborns then they'll die eventually and numbers will die down. The odd lowborn is useful to create new counts.

If they are there because they are a rich businessman, they they could easily be gained by event, rather than randomly spawning.

The problem is that even if they eventually die, they still bloat the save. As far as creating counts, we already have employment decisions, and it makes a lot more sense to give a county to an unlanded noble than to a lowborn.

The diplomacy range limit eliminates situations like the one you described. As far as nearby realms, high nobility only marrying other high nobility is completely historically accurate.

lowborn in game does not mean what you think it means. It just means the game doesn't want to assign a dynasty to them yet.

In-game lowborns = lower nobility, not peasants like many people tend to think. The game also culls them (non important ones) once dead from the history, and as devs have said the game slows down due to the number of people living, not number of people dead.

They also have an abysmal life expectancy, set a lowborn who don't have a relation to a non lowborn character as character of intrest, they die faster than heartbroken noble rebels (peasent and heretic rebels die almost as soon as you release them).
