I was wondering if an event could be scripted to change the religion of courtiers? Or if Courtiers who join courts can be forced to accept the religion of the ruler? I have been getting buckets full of Arabic Muslims lately, not to mention Lettigalian pagans. It would be nice if, when new courtiers show up, you get the event:

Non catholic noble seeks shelter in your court

-Tell him to go away
-Only if they convert
-Kill them before they cause trouble

or something along those lines

Couldn't find anything about this, hope no-one has mentioned it before.

There are events in the beta concerning pagan/muslim courtiers. You can put them to death or tell them to go away or keep them.

All options can give you a different trait.

But as far as I have experienced these events, the courtier doesn't convert, which is what I would like.

Is that command in F12 or should it be added somewhere else?
It needs to be added to an event.

On this subject, I'd also like to see conversion events for the children of non-Christians whom you send to a monastry for schooling. Perhaps giving them an extra chance at being pious or heretics, depending upon how they respond to their conflicting parental faith.

Events to finish Ecclestical Education already convert the character to realm religion.

As of today's patch the event effect (set_to_realm_religion) now works correctly for all characters, not just rulers, so this should now go a long way to resolving previous issues with these events.

Oh...and the eccl education finishing events already have this effect in them so that should finally work correctly too (heck, it's only taken 12 months to get it right finally :p)

the irony is, this makes the possibily of playing a non-christian in the game easier.

Before you had to at the start figure out what lands create your dynasty surname to spawn, let that be taken by another religion. Then let it conver to the new religion, kill off enough courtiers there until it starts spawning random ones, keep killing to you get a male of your last surname, preferably more than one, Then retake that province and maybe some more as they might not show all up in your court (which is why i said more than one) then marry one of your daughters (preferably your eldest) to that courtier who is muslim, and when he produces a son, you'll have a muslim heir with your last name.

Now that last part can be changed so that he converts to chrisitanity, but its not guaranteed and most of those conversion events have a choice (a few do not). However, the same is true on the other side of the isle. You can have one of your sons leave court, say a bastard son, and he can convert to islam or paganism. But it could be any son.

Again in both cases its still not easy to do.

Jinnai, I think it's easier to go into save file and change your character's religion into moslem or pagan. :D

Seriously, I don't see why playing non-christian should be desirable from player, as you can't reload your game without editing the save files then, not to mention all other drawbacks involved and the kind of efforts you need to do to manage that. So trying to prevent that kind of exploit of game engine seem like a waste of time to me.

I know its easier. i'm saying for those who truly don't want to cheat. Its more of a novelty for some people because paradox has made it so difficult and that you can't play them in offical game without hacking the savegame file.

And its mainly for the sake of playing a non-chrisitan (although the difficulty factor is still in) if people want to try something even harder.

But the bigger concern then is many events no longer apply that should if you do manage to become a non-chritian. There was talk, FE of only having events dealing with jews fire for chritians FE.

Well, already some of the more complex trigger "flavourish" events (like new childhood events) happen only to player or AI uses simpler set, due to desire to save CPU load, so I don't see why presumably flavour events dealing with jewish people should be triggering for non-christians which are AI by default.

i really don't see how its going to hurt to make them so they can. In fact by not requiring them to check religion (just AI or not) you're actually reducing the CPU load.
