I do not know if it this is intended or not, but if it is it's pretty boring. Whenever I play with Historical AI Focuses turned of there are some focuses that never get picked by the AI. For example: Never have I seen German AI pick Oppose Hitler, Yugoslavia become communist, Hungary going monarchy or communist, Czechoslovakia going fascist or communist. This seems really boring to me because non historical is supposed to be just that non historical but by restricting certain AI nations to only picking one path in their focus tree seems really boring to me. Anyone else agree with this?

The chance of the AI picking Oppose Hitler is 1/11 (but if you get that 9.1% chance you will be able to witness the spectacle that is Senior Hilter).
The weight of the AI picking Economic Intervention (not sure if that means this is forced, but I haven't seen balanced budget ever happening and its AI weight is 50). Western focus has weight 200 and recognize soviet has 50 for Yugoslavia. The weight for the Czechs to go left is 30, to stay democratic 90 and to go right 40.
So it's possible that nations go off the rails, just (very) unlikely.
I'd personally like Paradox to increase the weights of unhistorial focuses, because if I turn historical focuses off I wanna see some fireworks.
(there are ways things can get completely out of hand without unhistorical focus picks, even with historical AI focuses on, but i'd prefer it would happen a little more often with historical focuses off)

This is intentional. There is a very small if any chance of the ai veering off course. People who play on historical settings do NOT want a bunch of ahistorical nonsense happening. The Historical Plausibility Club members would be grabbing pitchforks and lighting torches if this was allowed.

That is why turning off historical play is an option, so those who want to play "what if" can do so.

There was a great mod wich made everything more interesting. It is not up to date i think.
To fix ahistorical gameplay pdx should implement a semi random playstyle, where the AI chooses its route in history before the game start (at least on the turning points like hitler/emperor/democacy --> if Hilter then war on poland/negotiation with poland -> and so on) and let the rest be by chance. This would lead to an AI bahaving like a player, who mostly decides before the game, wich route he likes in this gameplay. The only downside to this would be that the AI sometimes sides with a loosing faction or forms massive superfactions (like germany + ussr + China + X)

The odds of the AI doing drastically ahistorical things is also really low even with historical mode off (I previously stated the weights as given in the game files, but they seem a very high for the amount of variation I've actually seen ingame)
