Hee hee! Everybody hates me!
yeah, but that means more upkeep, and I really hate how it slows my research into Land Tech. Oh well, I will have to examine it.
Oh yeah, I actually went and checked what my actual BB was. I was way off! Not 76, but, as of after the upcoming instalment, it is an insane 166. Hows that for fun!
---------------
War! Man! War.
That’s what I find myself in right now. War with Burgundy. War with the Palatinate, Pommern, Denmark and Gelre.
It’s good to be me!
I will try and eliminate Gelre, the Palatinate and Pommern. Denmark, well they have to wait. Mainly because my navy is stuck in the Med, and I really do not want to bring it all the way up the frozen North.
1523 PT
So! I have Palatinate, Geldre and Vorpommern under siege. Wales and Denmark, allies of Pommern, are not accessible right now. Soon. Soon they will be.
The year sees the Palatinate assaulted, Vorpommern assaulted and Geldre assaulted.
Early in the year, Denmark and Wales offer me white peace, which I accept.
In the Palatinate, a bit of bad luck. France captures the Palatinate, so I will have to make a cheap peace with them so that France does not get to annex them.
Of course, it is too late though, as on September 4th, France annexes the Palatinate.
On September 16th , a new Pope. Clemens VII, he seems to be a good guy. But I am busy.
I cannot deal with two wars at once, so I order peace be made with Burgundy, no matter the cost. They offer me Brabant, Luxembourg, Lorraine, Lyonnais and Dauphine and I accept. I must focus on Gelre and Pommern. They are more important to me.
1524 PT
Damn them! Damn those French! They have taken over the siege in Geldre, and I will now lose the chance to grab that province. I really hate that!
This year sees me call up Robes in Dauphine, Lyonnais, Franche Comte, Luxembourg, Brabant, Koln Kleves and Munster. They will join the fight. I will be victorious!
I give personal gifts to both Venice and France, just to make sure they do not abandon me. This war should end soon enough.
1525 PT
So! Still at war! Argh!
Robes in Brabant, Luxembourg, Koln, Kleves, Munster, Oldenburg, Hessen, Anhalt and Magdeburg. Let the North be prepared!
I send one of my missionaries to Sudeten. I should know in 90 months if I have good news or bad news from there. I think I will focus on reconverting those provinces that are not Catholic. It only makes sense.
March 18th sees those fools from Bavaria demanding that they get a chink of Salzburg for their own. They want to expand their boundary? I do not think so! I now have a very legitimate reason to wipe them off the face of the earth!
This actually works in my favour. Bavaria has Poland, Lithuania, Genoa and the Teutonic Order as allies. I wonder. Could I run over them? It would be most excellent for me if I could.
After much difficulty, which sees the French general Bayard die, I capture Geldre. Not the French. Me. I guess that French general had to die for me to get possession of Geldre. Cool.
1526 PT
This year sees me call up more Robes. You can never have enough. Ever. Dauphine, Lyonnais, Franche Comte, Lorraine, Alsace, Mainz, Wurzburg, Koln and Hessen. Sweet!
I also order the fortress in Lyonnais improved. It is only a Level 1? What?! Fix that! Immediately!
On February 18th, a strange bit of news. Those heathens in Tunisia? They actually compliment me. Strange! Oh well, our relations have improved, but I do not care. I really just want to go after those Marmeluks. That would be very fun.
October 1st sees news from Jean Calvine. The army has learnt much in these battles. Very nice.[Land Tech 13 reached]
December 15th sees a strange bit of luck. In Wurzburg, perhaps in reaction to the war, and how exhausted people are with it, a new factory. For weapons. Perhaps they want me to use it to end the war? I shall endeavour to do my best. Yes!
1527 PT
War exhaustion sucks! I am having to deal with revolts all over the place, and with the war I am fighting. If only Vorpommern would fall. Why won’t it fall? Why?! Why?
I call up Robes in Oldenburg, Munster, Hanover, Hessen, Kleves, Anhalt, Wurzburg, Koln, Luxembourg and Brabant. Take that! Yeah!
I send a missionary to Anhalt. Why not?
With what remains, I leave enough for my treasurer to send out merchants and I give personal gifts to my allies. They like me. They really, really like me!
May 14th sees many things happening. Vorpommern falls, I annex Pommern. I then annex Geldre. No more war exhaustion! Yes! [Note: I was up to +8 for war exhaustion. Yikes!]
1528 PT
I decide that this year, I will focus more on the Southern reaches, the Home provinces. If someone were to attack me down there, I would be in trouble. So! I call up troops in the Capital, Marche, Siena and Emilia. I send a missionary to Wurzburg, and I have some settlers, so I send them up north of Russia to Arkhangelsk. I do not know how I got that province, but I won’t complain.
I will prepare for war with Bavaria, I think. They will suffer my fury. Ha!
1529 PT
This year sees many things planned for January 1st. My DPC comes up, and I order that the troops should pursue a more offensive minded strategy. Excellent. [+1 to Offensive. It is the only one that makes sense and allows me to keep that .40 settlers I am getting due to my other settings]
I call up Robes in Kleves, Koln, Luxembourg, Geldre, Munster, Hessen, Wurzburg, Anhalt, Hanover, Oldenburg, Mecklenberg and Vorpommern. Why? You will see. You will…see.
As well, I declare war on Bavaria. Now, they have a very interesting assortment of allies. Poland, Holstein and Wales. I think I may even try and hit Wales, even if it means bringing up the fleet from the Med. It would give me an excellent shot at hitting England, should they ever try anything funny against me, or to a lesser extent, the Pope.
So! I have a force that had been pulled from the different southern provinces, and now 45,000 men sit in Salzburg, waiting to move against Bavaria. I send out armies that I have in Kustrin, Vorpommern, Silesia, Moravia and the unnamed province. I also will send an army to take and annex Holstein. That would be so cool!
January 19th sees the armies arrive in their provinces for siege or for battle. Bayern sees a 35,000 strong Bavarian Drinking Army meet my Robes. In Moldova and Poznan, sieges are begun, and in the Polish capital of Krakow, a small force of Polish troops stands against my Robes. This will be fun. I only really worry about Holstein. I have to pull troops from almost all of the Northern provinces just so that I can actually lay siege to Holstein.
The Marche Fleet, which is actually a conglomeration of all of the captured fleets, sails from Emilia, heading all the way north to Mecklenberg. I want to use it for a strike against Wales. They only have the three provinces anyway, so they should be easy enough to take out.
There is trouble in Bayern. Those drunkards defeat my army, and now I have to pull troops from the Home Provinces to strike at Bayern, take them out.
In Hinterpommern, there is god news. An assault there brings the fortress into my hands. Onwards to Danzig.
It all is happening so fast! Danzig falls in April, Holstein is being assaulted, a massive force is battling in Bayern, and Denmark is protestant. So many things happening, so little time. If I can severely weaken Poland, then that makes any attacks by Lithuania even less effective. It shall be so!
Podlesia and Podolia fall to assaults, even as Silesia and Hinterpommern are placed under siege by the Polish. Damn them!
Moldova falls next, and I have hope that Poland is more neigh than it is bite. Silesia has been relieved, the Polish sent scattering, and the Marche Fleet is slowly sailing towards Mecklenberg. If I get Holstein, I can add their fleet as well. Genius!
On July 19th, a strange man sails into the docks in Vorpommern. He says he is an “explorer” and wants to help me. Ok. I send him to Mecklenberg, so that he can lead that fleet. He’ll make a good admiral of sorts, I think.
September 26th sees Holstein captured and annexed. I will send all fleets there instead, and use it as a launch pad for strikes against Wales. I will use the army in Holstein itself, send reinforcements to look after the province in a little while.
November 1st sees Venice capture Bayern, and I am actually very happy for them. Let them annex it. It will be a nice gift for them, I think.
December 26th sees every Polish Province, save Memel, in my control. I have combined all of my fleets, and load up a force of 16,000 Robes on the Fleet, which has 11 warships and 17 transports. I order them to sail for Yorkshire, and to assault the fortress there when they arrive.
1530 PT
Poland is no more than a speck now. They willingly give me Memel, Hinterpommern, Danzig, Poznan, Galizien, Wielkopolska and Moldavia as well as a cash settlement. [37d ]
With my new provinces come new responsibilities. I order the fortress in Danzig to be improved.[Level 2]
I call up Robes in Banat, the unnamed province, Ruthenia, Galizien, Wielkopolska, Poznan, Hinterpommern, Kustrin, Silesia, Erz, Sudeten, Ansbach, Moravia and Salzburg. I hope that I can make my move against Wales soon, as I have noticed that France already has soldiers over there. Damn!
In order to ensure that my allies never leave me, I give both fancy personal gifts. Solid gold Pork. Yep.
January 4th sees Bavaria annexed by Venice! Yes!
February 19th sees the Fleet arrive just off the coast of Yorkshire, and the Robes are unloaded to begin their siege.
April 5th sees Yorkshire fall to a determined assault. It is all falling into place.
June 26th sees an assault on the Midlands succeed. One left. I have sent the Fleet back to Holstein to retrieve more reinforcements.
The Fleet loads up 8,000 Robes to send to help in the final attack on Wales. October 19th sees the reinforcements arrive in Yorkshire, and they are sent to the Midlands to join with the army there.
On the 22nd of October, Bohemia insults me. Well, I do not care. They say something about the Pope. Say whatever you want. I do not care!
1531 PT
This year sees Wales under assault, and I think that soon I will have my peace. I call up Robes in Holstein, Mecklenberg, Vorpommern, Hinterpommern, Wielkopolska, Poznan, Kustrin, Magdeburg, Anhalt, Wurzburg, Ansbach, Sudeten, Erz and Moravia. Whew!
I send a missionary to Memel, and give gifts to Venice and France. To France, I give a fancy letter and to Venice, a nice, personal gift. What was it? Shh! It’s a secret!
February 6th sees a combined French-Papal force take Wales, and I offer them peace. Midlands and Yorkshire, as well as a small cash settlement. They agree. So! I send the army in Wales to Midlands, and call up 3,000 Robes in Yorkshire. Huzzah! [Note: received 16d from Wales. Troops are only 5d/1000 infantry. Nice deal, eh?]
September 1st sees news that all of that warfare did the Robes a lot of good. Jean Calvine nearly wets himself in excitement. I tell him he should look at buying adult diapers for himself. Really![Land Tech 14 Reached]
October 1st sees Saxony declare themselves to be Protestant. Good! Now I can annex the buggers. I will move troops into position.
19 days later, I am at war with Saxony. I do not ask my allies to join, why should I? I send in troops from Wurzburg, Erz and Anhalt.
December 20th sees an assault in Sachsen begun, and a day later, people applaud me for being so careless with my troops, their sons and husbands, by declaring that my policies are good ones! I could have told you that. Sheesh!
1532 PT
January 30th sees war with Saxony end. The lone Saxon Province falls, and I annex them.
I also decide that I should really call up Robes. It only makes sense. So! In Baden, Mainz, Wurzburg, Ansbach, Sachsen, Magdeburg, Mecklenburg, Vorpommern, Holstein, Hanover, Midlands, Yorkshire and Oldenburg notices are sent out to assemble in the capitals of the provinces, and join the army. Yes!
I give gifts to France and Venice, and laugh because they love them so much! Yes!
I order the fort in Yorkshire improved. It is pathetic. Yuck![Level 2 ordered]
July 14th sees the missionary sent to Sudeten fail. Damn!
In Holstein, new areas are built to aid in recruiting more men. Very nice.[ Manpower +1 in Holstein. Sweet!]
1533 PT
This year sees me decide that I will pursue a more pacifist strategy. For now, at least.
Robes in the Home Provinces are called up, to ensure that I actually have some there.
A missionary is sent to Sachsen to convert the damn fools there to Catholicism.
I will rest now. Yeah!
The Monastery stood like a hideous scar on the mountains. It looked like it had not seen repair in decades. William, Mario and Luigi all slowly rode up to the gate. William got off his mule, and knocked on the door. A slit in the door opened up, and a wizened pair of eyes stared out.
“What do you want?!”
William looked at the eyes, and responded.
“We are simple monks, come to take refuge from the harsh Carpathian winter. Will you not allow fellow monks in?”
The wizened eyes flashed for a second, and slowly blinked.
“Well…”
William spoke up.
“We also wish to see if what is said about your library is true. I have heard it is the largest in all the east, even more so than the Library in Alexandria. I…”
The door opened, and the old gatekeeper let them in.
“You will go and see the abbot. Talk with him about your books. Go!”
William led his mule in, and Mario and Luigi followed. The inner courtyard was massive, with several huge buildings sitting around it. A shrine to one of the many local saints sat in the middle of the courtyard, and William, Mario and Luigi all headed there and said a small prayer. They then went to stable their animals and go and meet the abbot. William could feel a strange unease that sat over the monastery. Like a dark presence. William would have to ask the abbot when he met him…
