How badly do the Spanish out-tech you H_S? I would think that you'll be fine unless it's by a considerable margin.

...and the plot thickens...;)

Well I outclass them, however, they have more troops overseas in the colonies than do I, and they have several very heavily fortified island fortressess in the caribbean. In fact, I think almost all of their forts are medium. And I am still at war with Sweden. I really need to make peace with them.

Storytime! Storytime!

While war rumbled throughout the Empire, Bob, Doug, Cybil and William all were under the streets of Constantinople, speaking with this ‘person’ who claimed to be Ank-Sa-Khul. William was led outside as Bob, Doug and Cybil went in to speak with this man alone…

One would never stop to wonder why God, the Devil and Death were all in a cell, speaking to a creature calling himself Ank-Sa-Khul, Ancient Being of Unimaginable Power…

The trio, Bob, Doug and Cybil they all walked around Ank, and had to admit that their skepticism was justified. This man did not ‘look’ like Ank-Sa-Khul. Cybil was the first to speak.

“Ank-Sa-Khul? You say you are Ank-Sa-Khul and yet, you are mortal. I can sense it. Why do you call me down? Why do you want to speak with me? Hmm?”

Ank-Sa-Khul spat at Cybil, and between clenched teeth, he retorted.

”You Bitch! You imprisoned me in this shell! I want out! NOW!!!”

Cybil and Doug could only smile.

“So,” began Doug, “ You think that by threatening us, by screaming, we will let you free?”

Doug brought his face a few inches from Ank-Sa-Khul’s and spat in his face.

“You are a FOOL! Ank-Sa-Khul, if that is your real name, you made your bed! Now lie in the shit you have created!”

Cybil and Doug both turned to leave, realizing that even if it was Ank-Sa-Khul it mattered not. However, as they made their way to leave the cell, Ank-Sa-Khul looked at them, evil grin spreading across his face like some poisonous cancer, and called out after them.

“I know where the others are!”

Doug and Cybil turned round, shock on their faces, and came back to listen to Ank-Sa-Khul.

“Yes! I know where they are! Na’od Sans Pet and Daud Meek Saul, even where Gautin has disappeared to…I even know where the Void is!”

What?! How was this possible? How could he know? Cybil and Doug both stood stock still.

Finally, Doug spoke.

“What do you want, Ank-Sa-Khul? What is it that your mortal mind wants? Hmm? You were banished, foolish in your attempts to defeat your sister, Na’od. You thought that Daud would leave you two to your business, but that never happened. He came in, and with our help kicked your ass! And you are making demands now? Why shouldn’t I doom you to stay in this shell forever, anchor your soul to this body so that you will never leave it? Hmm? In fact…”

Doug spoke some words and Ank-Sa-Khul groaned in pain. He fell to the ground, panting, as Doug continued talking:

“…In fact, I just did it. You will suffer in this shell forever. Never to regain the power you had before. You are puny!”

Ank-Sa-Khul gasped in pain. Why did it hurt so much?! In desperation, he tried to do something, anything with his powers, hoping that since Doug could use his that he could use his own. But to no avail. Doug was far more powerful, and Ank-Sa-Khul had lost any powers he had when his soul was anchored to this pitiful body. Well! If he was going to suffer like this, he would make damn certain that the others suffered as well. Laughing, quietly at first, growing louder and louder, he staggered to his feet.

“Fine! I will take you to find the others! But you must get me out of this prison! Do it now, oh mighty Doug.”

Doug and Cybil smiled as they heard Ank-Sa-Khul pronounce Doug’s name. The sarcasm dripping from it, the vitriol, the utter and complete hatred. It was music to their ears. They both went to gather up Bob and William, who had been left out( Bob being sent out soon after Cybil and Doug were brought in) and explained that this prisoner would provide a great deal of valuable information. That was all that Bob and William needed to hear. Bob went to summon the guard and speak with the warden of the prison, and William stood nervously in front of Doug and Cybil. He felt something from them, but did not know what it was. Everything was moving so much faster than it had been before. It was incredible…

Notice! Do not fret!

Ok, I know it has been a long time since last I posted an update, but there is a very logical reason for it. BB wars. Right now, I am at war with Spain( again), and have to worry about the Marmeluks, as well as China. Just to give you a sampling of what is in the update(11 pages on word, and still not even close to being finished):

" The war with Spain goes well, I only lost 200,000 men in that last war with them. How many more can I add to the pile?"

Interest piqued? Ya bet it is! :D

I hope, hope, hope to have the next update soon, I just do not want to edn before this current round of BB wars are over.

I guess there is an aftereffect of absorbing all of Europe, parts of North America, Central America, South America, and the MidEast into one nation. Oh well...

Just thought I'd give a heads up to to those who follow this lumbering behemoth still.

Cheers!

Hey, just managed to catch up with you, it's difficult reading all those great, but long, AAR's out there with limited time.

Your Europe screenies look impressive, although these ugly borderlines in Italy (Genoa and Venice) should vanish as soon as possible...:D

"Should I tell them? I don't know. I think I'll leave them in the dark a bit longer..."

Um, ahem! Yes. Well, You will have to wait and see how big the Empire has grown since last I posted. Let's just say that several annoying nations are no more...

Edict of Tolerance?

Ok, when does it usually happen? I ask, because my war with Spain is going well, and they are offering lots of trading posts(those not burnt to the ground) and some crappy colonies. But so long as the ToT still is in effect, that would be a waste. They'd just march back in, retake the tps and colonies. And I ain't gonnah have that.

Oh, and to torture you all more, one of my allies is no longer my ally. They left the fold, as it were. No longer part of the Holy Alliance. Is it France? Venice? Russia? Russia? Maybe it's Russia? Could it be Russia? I wonder, Russia?

Yeah, I bet you'll never guess which one it is! Never in a million years! Mwa ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha.

Yippee! I finished my BB wars!

Thank you for your patience. I have screenies, but they will come later on( like tomorrow). Sufficed it to say that it was one heckuva long bit of wars...

____________

This war, this war with Spain is truly going to be a test of my mettle. I, Ang, shall trust in God to see us through. And although I may be getting on in years, I will not fail Bob. I couldn’t live with myself if I did. I’d have to listen to him whine and complain until the day I died. (Yep, he’s mortal. One of Bob’s ‘helpers’)

So it is that this year, 1624, is going to show the Papal Empire what it can do. Whether it measures up to the Spanish Empire…

The sheer amount of troops being poured into this war is staggering. Rough estimates put the total amount of Brazes/Aztec Warriors at somewhere around 400,000. And more are coming. I have heard rumours that close to 600,000 Robes are heading to take part of this battle. It will leave the Empire weak in some spots, but that cannot be helped…

The battles in Spain are fierce, but there is hope that the attacks there will go well. They have to. If not, well I shudder to think what will happen if they fail…

War with Sweden is ended, with Bergslagen, Gastrikland and Vasterbotten being added to the Empire. With peace up north, the focus can be completely sent to the south. In fact, the PGs from all of the Northern provinces send their armies, and so, a massive wave of Robes heads for mainland Spain. In Central America, the colonial armies do well, acquitting themselves admirably. Atlixco and Tlaxcala are under siege, as is Colorado.

The sheer amount of Robes moving to battle the Spanish is incredible. Never before has such an attack shown itself to Continental Europe, nay, to the world! Although there is trouble in Central America and the Bahamas, which is taken over by the Spanish, even though several trading posts will not survive this war, that is no matter. I will make them pay, make the Spanish pay dearly. No matter that I was opposed to it before the acts of the Five in Central America. The Empire is at war, and I will do everything in my power to see this through to success.

After much anguish and suffering, Liguria falls, and with it, the will of the Genoans to fight. A pittance is asked for and received, and Genoa is no longer at war with the Empire.

I do not know it, but in Central America, there is grave danger and distress. The attacks, or should I say “slaughters” there are horrible. The armies, they are all decimated in attacks against Spanish forts there. The forts are too well supplied, and so, troops will have to be ferried over. Not good! Not good at all!

In mainland Europe, however, there is good news. Bearn, Navarra, Roussillon and Gerona all have been captured, and although the fighting on the island of Sicily is fierce, mainly in Messina, it is hoped that new troops will give more push to the attacks there.

Although Atlixco, Colorado and Tehuacan fall to the Papal Robes, Tlaxcala remains stubbornly free, and the future of those lands remains very much in doubt.

1625 PT

PGs call up troops all along the Spanish border. Wherever they can, Robes are hastily assembled, and told to head into Spain when they can. I receive reports to the effect that the Armies have been making excellent progress in their march through mainland Spain.

By April, Valencia, Aragon, Catalonia, Cantabria, Asturias, Navarra, Bearn, Gerona and Roussillon, all of these key mainland Spanish provinces have been taken and reinforcements march, 100,000 Robes from all over Europe, freshly called up troops that will aid in seriously weakening Spain and her evil ways.

I have even sent word that the troops that surround some of our enemies, like Burgundy and Hungary, that those Armies head to battle. I only hope that no attacks are made by either of those two as I lead the Empire to even greater heights…

On the 12th of June, even as the battles rage across the globe, a new minister, Sergio Valenti is his name, he aids the Pope, and aids me, in running the war. Overseeing it. Thank the Heavens above. I need all the help I can get.

I have heard that the battles in Spain, at least mainland Spain, have drawn the attention of many Provincial Governments that are nowhere near to the fighting. Like in Poland, where a force of some 30,000 Robes begins the long march from Poznan to meet the enemy somewhere in Spain. As a leader, it lightens my heart to see everyone joining in a common cause. Perhaps the Empire can overcome this adversity.

In the New World, vicious attack is followed by vicious attack. Trading posts on both sides are burnt to the ground, as a force of some 1,500 Aztec Braves ravages the Spanish trading empire. It must be a sight to see…

On December 1st, in an effort to aid the war effort, War Taxes are raised throughout the realm. This will show the Spanish how foolish they were to stand against the Papal Empire.

1626 PT

This year sees troops called up in the Five Aztec Provinces as well as in several key Border provinces (Gascogne, Poitou, Limousin and Berri call up a grand total of 52,000 Robes, with the other 24,000 being spread amongst the Aztec Provinces). The war progresses well..

Murcia falls, as does Sicily and Galicia. Oporto, Estramaduras, Toledo, Granada and Andalusia are all under attack. The French have a force, some 53,000 men strong, in Leon. All the best to them…

Now, although the Spanish frantically offers up their trading posts and such, I refuse. That Tordesillas treaty is in effect, and any land I gain from them without a fort in it will be taken back by them. That cannot happen. In the sacking of Madrid, the maps of the Spanish came into our possession, and several new nations, most notably the Chimu and the Incas look to be very tempting targets for expansion. But first, this war. I will aim to cripple the Spanish by taking their trade centres and then laying an embargo on them. I already have Tlaxcala and will soon have Andalusia, leaving only Tago to grab. Not hard. Easy really.

The year passes as Robes settle down to siege the Spaniards into submission.

1627 PT

Troops are called along the Spanish border as with the French making peace with Spain for 200 ducats, I now have more troubles. Colonial Reach has ordered that troops be sent to get as close to Chimu and the Incas as possible. They smell expansion, easy expansion. They also note that China has some very tempting colonial possessions that would make an excellent addition to the fold…

As the war drags on, my health begins to falter. I wonder if I will live to see the next year? I must make plans…

To ensure that, should I die, the war does not halt, I appoint a new High General, Sir William Bursythe, a distinguished English soldier who fought in many of the Empire’s battles of liberation. Well, ok, maybe not ‘liberation’ but they were liberated from their old owners, right? I think so…

Sir William takes control as I find myself spending more and more time in bed, unable to do most anything. Whispers ring throughout the hallways of the Papal Palace that “Ang shan’t live past the next year…” It is annoying. I am not dead, yet they all speak as though I were. Well, at least I can count on Bob Cajun taking all the credit for my successes whenever he deigns to return from his trip to wherever it was he was going…

Back to the war, eh?

The war goes increasingly well for the Empire, as Campeche falls after a brilliant ploy by the general there, O’Malley, tricks the Spaniards into abandoning the fort. They are slaughtered on the fields before their mighty fort, and Campeche is under Papal control now. If only troops can make their way towards Chimu and the Incas. Burn the trading posts, set up new ones there under Papal jurisdiction. It will be great!

On the 28th of December, a small force of Spanish fools lands in Calais, drenching the shores with their blood as they are beaten back by the force there. * Cough, Cough *

I am not long for this world…

1628 PT

January 8th, the Papal Hospital, inside the Papal Palace…

The priests stood watch, saying the last rites as the nuns dampened the brow of Ang. He had succumbed to a sever coughing fit just as the New Year had struck. He had been in and out of slumber for the past week, but now he had taken a turn for the worse. Sir William stood watch nearby, knowing full well that ultimate power lay only a few strained breaths away. He hid his smile, and watched, and waited…

At 7 in the evening, on January 8th, 1628 PT, Ang died. Sir William was sworn in, and given all the powers of Bob Cajun, to act as Bob in Bob’s absence. It was all finally his!…

Well then. As the new leader of the Empire, I have a war to finish. I am certain, yadda, yadda, yadda…ultimate victory…yadda.

My first order, sent to the Holland Fleet, is to get themselves down south as soon as possible to ferry troops to the Spanish holdings in the Med. Does us no good having to try and see if we can spit far enough to damage them, eh? Wot, wot!

In the New World, a force makes their way towards Cupica, burning Spanish trading posts as they go. Colonial Reach wants Cupica, if only to use as a staging ground for an attack against Chimu. The troops there will see what they can do…

Mainland Spain is completely under Papal Control, and the Spanish offer worthless peace treaty after worthless peace treaty, offering land they can retake without resorting to war. I will not have it! No!

1629 PT

What? DPC? What is that? Oh! All right. So I was a bit late. So what? I’m new at this. July 29th, and the DPC is enacted. Better quality troops, yes.

Besides, I made peace with Spain, getting Colorado, Altar, Tlaxcala( and its 635 ducat trading centre) and Messina. Next time, I will make them suffer even more! Ha!

I have also sent word that Altar, Cupica, Isthmus, Cartagena and Maracaibo should be made into colonies. Send traders first, then work from there.

On August 13th, Hungary decides that they no longer wish to remain free, declare war on the Empire, and really, why? Why would they commit suicide like that? Oh well, wipe them out. All of them.

On the 25th Persia and their pathetic allies, the Marmeluks, declare war on the Holy Empire. Ha! I send the troops I have there, only 75,000 all told, into Persia. The Marmeluks are so technologically backward that the Robes should defeat them easily enough. The Persians, they are worrisome. Well, God willing, the Robes will be victorious.

On this same day, Zimbabwe declares war on the Empire. What? What is Zimbabwe?

The 30th sees Ak Koyunlu and the Creek declare war. Oh well, I do not need the Alliance’s help with these two. Funny how taking a few bits of land from Spain suddenly makes me a pariah. Yeah, like it is the Empire’s fault that Spain is incompetent?

Burgundy is next, declaring war, and shortly after, China joins in the fun. Lovely.

Ukraine and Georgia are next. Oh well. Join the Par-Tay!

Genoa, the Knights and Spain. Eire and Poland. The list keeps growing. Oh well. It will be fun!

Sweden and Songhai. The list keeps growing. I think the world hates the Empire…

Although the forces of the Empire are stretched to the breaking point, by deft use of them, the multiple wars can be fought on somewhat even footing. Of course, any more nations join the fun, and all hell will break loose. More hell, I mean.

On the 9th of October, Eire falls. One down, about 25 nations to go.

Adana falls as does Nuyssaybin. The war in Persia goes well. Ok, it’s not in Persia, actually in Marmeluk territory. Same thing!

On the 27th, Colonial Reach is glad to report that the Creek were no match with their tomahawks against the firepower of the Robes. No more Creek nation. And, as a bonus, 15,000 Braves join the battle against the world. Two down, the world to go.

Battles rage fiercely throughout the planet. On November 29th, Poland is annexed. No more existence for them!

Kurdistan, or Ak Koyunlu, falls on December 3rd, to be absorbed into the Empire. This goes well. Some nations, like China, Songhai and Zimbabwe, are impossible to reach, and so, peace will have to be made with them quickly. Or they can be ignored. Ignored, I think.

1630 PT

Well, if nothing else, I, Sir William Bursythe, can say that I oversaw the largest expansion of the Empire since Bob Cajun. Hungary is no more, PGs along the Persian border call up troops, as do the PGs in the New World, specifically in Tenochtitlan. These Robes will help the battles there. I only hope that this will not blow up in my face…

As this year drags on, I am overjoyed to learn that Burgundy is now our vassal, defeated utterly in the field of battle. Good, I can send troops to battle the blasted Spaniards now…

Georgia is the next to be forced to become vassals of the Empire, and they cede Trabzon as well. Trabzon, Orleannais and two new vassals. Very nice!

Genoa is next, as the last of the defenders on Corsica falls, and Genoa is made to pay. Vassals and Corsica. Excellent.

Sweden offers Smaland, Finland and Tavastland to us in exchange for peace. Fools! I had no more troops there to beat them! Ha! They were swindled!

So I find myself in the enviable position of having Spain on the ropes( for now) and with the next year, I will offer peace to Zimbabwe and China, as soon as those lazy, good-for-nothing diplomats get off their collective asses and get out and aboot. Sheesh, I have control of the Ukraine, can’t offer them peace because of no diplomats. It’s times like this I wish I had never campaigned against more diplomats. Oh well, live and learn.

Well, if you can’t send offers out, it is wise to listen to the ones that come in. Ukraine offers Krementjug and Poltava and 82 ducats. Of course, they only give 20 ducats, and there is nothing I can do about it, yet.

I know that of all the foes that are against the Empire now, Spain is particularly dangerous. And so, when I finally get a diplomat from the pathetic corps, I send him, along with the peace proposal. Moab, Rio Grande, Tehuacan, Sicily, Bearn and Roussillon.

On the 6th of December, sensing that the new lands in Moab are weak, the Navaho strike, and Colonial Reach decides that allies are not needed. This should be an easy battle.

As well, War Taxes are raised, mainly to offer to China and Zimbabwe, and perhaps Songhai and Morocco.

1631 PT

1,000 ducats. That is how much it costs for peace with China. 1,000. A third of the treasury, gone to appease the Eastern Giant. Ho, ho, ho.

The PGs call up Robes as they can, and now all focus is on Persia and the Marmeluks. The latter offers peace on March 5th, with Sochi, Samaria, Aleppo, Judea, Sinai and Nuyssaybin. Not a bad haul, although revolts may make me regret the victory.

On April Fools day, it is revealed that the Hedjaz, along with Aden and the Kaliphate.

Several days later, Persia is offered peace, they will give up control of Kirkuk, Azerbaijan, Daghestan and Tabaristan. Sufficed it to say that Robes will be called up in those provinces when they become available.

So! Besides having Songhai troops in Dakar(they really want those provinces there), the war seems to be going well. Troops march towards the Hedjaz, as well as the Kaliphate. When the Hedjaz falls, Aden will be next, and then perhaps the Kaliphate…

Astrakhan declares war, and I need no help with it. The allies are busy elsewhere, and I will not let my predecessor get the last laugh in this Global confrontation.

So, checking my notes, I can see that the Empire is at war with the following nations:
Zimbabwe, Songhai and Morocco, The Hedjaz, Aden, the Kaliphate and Algiers(?!!), the Golden Horde and Astrakhan. Quite the force arrayed against the Empire, don’t you think?

War with the Golden Horde is quick, as Russia takes every Horde province save Orenburg, which has Imperial Robes in it, assaulting the minimal forts there. Truly this is great news indeed. Russia can strengthen herself, and the Horde will no longer be a threat.

Astrakhan falls, the Navaho too, the Kaliphate is under siege, their forces striking against the Robes in a futile attempt to break the siege of the last Kaliphate province, and the Golden Horde is no more, Russia has every province save Orenburg, and that is held by the Empire.

However, while I am patting myself on the back for grand luck, Nogai declares war, and the Robes I had sent to attack the Golden Horde are moved into Nogai lands. I will send more as they become available. Although revolts still strike up, they are put down brutally, again and again. And again.

On the 26th of December, as the Robes waste the pathetic Nogai forces[they are land tech 3! 3!! I am land tech 24, I think] I order the Provincial Governments to raise war taxes. They do so, and the new funds will be used to strengthen the trading posts and colonies in South America.

1632 PT

The new funds go towards increasing the size of the Imperial Robes. The PGs are given free rein to do what they will with the funds.

War with the Hedjaz and the Kaliphate ends as the Hedjaz gives up Medina, Arabia and Jordan as well as military access, and the Kaliphate gives up Basrah and Hamadan. The Golden Horde only has Samara left, as Russia took the rest, and Orenburg, which the Empire controls. Nogai is almost decimated, as the Robes are easily defeated the horse borne enemies who can do little more than fire arrows at the Robes. A pity, they are so backwards. It is not even an effort to defeat them. Oh well.

However, Nogai gets Sibir to aid them, joining in the war. This is getting silly. They are outmatched, and yet they attack. Pity, they have to die needlessly. They should simply submit, give in to the dark side, and that is that.

But just as soon as Sibir joins in the war with Nogai, Nogai makes peace with the Empire. Irgiz, Orsk, Alga, Aralsk, Ust Urt, and Bouzatchi. A very nice haul, and the Robes in the area are spit up into several different armies to cover the new holdings. Most of them are only 2-3,000 Robes, but it is enough. Rebels may be a problem, but that is ok.

Well, the Khazak Horde, ugly step-cousins to the Golden Horde, declares war on the Empire, and the forces that had been split up to deal with revolts in the former Nogai provinces now must join together to attack the Khazak fools. They are so backward they do not even have access to gunpowder or artillery of any sort. Fools! [Note: They have a land tech of 2!! compared to my 24. Man, this is so ridiculously evil! Mwa ha ha!]

September 27th, and the declarations of war continue. This time, it’s the Uzbek Kaganate and the Mughal Empire that decide to join in the slaughter. Ah crap!

In an effort to stop the attacks, peace is made with the Khazak Horde, as they had pathetic minimal forts throughout their provinces, which a determined assault easily took. Peace is made with the Empire getting Nura and 80 ducats, as well as military access through the Khazak Horde. Ok, so now, just the Golden Horde, the Uzbek Kaganate and the Mughals. That is it! No more, after that. Please?

1633 PT

This year sees news that the Golden Horde finally accepted the peace we offered. They would give up Kalmuk, Kouban and Orenburg, and we would let them exist. Fair trade.

As well, PGs along the Eastern Border called up Robes, close to 75,000 of them, spread out all along the border with Persia and Nogai. It must be a grand sight, several dozen provinces calling up Robes simultaneously.

January 1st also sees news that we are able to build naval shipyards. Well, that is ok, I guess. [Naval Tech 11 reached]

In the Uzbek Kaganate, the forts are manned by young boys and old men. No match for the hardened vets of the Imperial Robes.

Karabogaz, Khwarizm, Khiva, Turkmenistan, and Kara Kum. These already have fallen to Imperial Robes, and Meched and Bukhara are under siege. The Mughals, they are closer technologically to us, but nonetheless, they have not faced as many battles as the Imperial Robes have.

The Uzbek capital, in Uzbek, is about to be attacked, and word from the front is very upbeat. So far the Uzbek forces have been pathetic, not putting up any fight at all. And the Mughals? They have sent some forces, but I fear they are holding troops in reserve. Well, the war goes well, and I will accept whatever shall happen.

1634 PT

Well, more Robes are called up in the Eastern Provinces by the PGs, and the Uzbek Kaganate is done, save for one province, Rajputana. When it falls, so do the Uzbeks.

The year passes with battle after battle being fought, and although the Mughals have superior numbers, sometimes as much as two to one, they are simply not hardened troops like the Imperial Robes. So the Mughal provinces begin to fall. Samarkand, Heart and Bukhara are taken, and troops continue to march for battle in those hostile lands. A good year. Very good.

1635 PT

This year, the same as before. PGs call up Robes, and send them out as soon as they are finished assembling, knowing they will train as they travel. The fort in Tabaristan is improved, so that I may count on 20,000 men there to stand against any enemy who would strike against the Empire.

More Robes head to the Mughal lands, more war, more battle. It is truly glorious!

This year sees Burgundy and Georgia declare themselves sick of being Imperial Vassals. So they will be destroyed.

On the 23rd of July, Genoa declares war, bringing Spain back into the battle. Great. Colonial Reach is ready though, with several armies ready in the New World to strike at Spanish holdings. This also can possibly allow me to get troops to war with Chimu. It will be interesting, for sure.

Burgundy is the first traitor, suffering the absolute humiliation of being annexed. Georgia and Genoa are next.

Sweden sees the chaos in the Empire, and foolishly strikes against it. They declare war, and with only one province and 2,000 men, they are doomed to death. Pity, they were nice.

They last only four months. By December 18th, Sweden is no longer a nation, absorbed into the Empire.

1636 PT

The global war goes on, and as it does, it seems more and more nations join in the fun. China does, as do the Marmeluks and Persians. Fun, fun! Everyone hates the Empire, and I just want to know why? We haven’t done anything wrong…Ok, so we have subjugated whole portions of the planet, but that isn’t our fault!

Troops are sent into battle in Spain, in Persia and in the Mughal lands. I am certain not since Caesar himself have so may Imperial troops been on the march at one time.

All throughout the realm, the battles go well. Yes, thousands upon thousands of Robes and enemy troops are killed, but it is ok. There are more where they came from.

In an effort to concentrate forces, peace is made with the Mughals, with them sacrificing Bikaner, Thar, Quetta, Qandahar, Kalat, Kabul, Surkhandarya and Bukhara. Not bad. Not bad at all. The revolts may be a pain, but it’s all good.

So with the Mughals out of the way, the Uzbeks have no allies. They have no provinces. They are screwed, but if they offer peace, the Empire may just accept.

On September 7th, The Uzbeks comply. They offer a sum of some 175 ducats, Turkmenistan, Rajputana, Karabogaz, Kara Kum, Khwarizm, Khiva and Tadjikstan. More land for the Empire! Excellent!

Two days later, in a café in Venice…

The man stood impassively outside the door. He held his sword in front of him, not moving a muscle. He could hear the shouts coming from inside the room, but he ignored them. He was not paid to listen. He was paid to stand stock still in front of the door with his sword like so.

Inside the room, two men sat, speaking animatedly. One was a very heavyset man, the Doge of Venice. He was waving his arms around in agitation. The other was a slim man, almost as thin as a reed. He wore the markings of an Imperial Diplomat. He spoke calmly, measuring his words.

Imperial Diplomat(ID) : What you say makes sense, Doge. I know that you only want what is best for your people. But think on this. If you were to agree to the arrangement, then I am certain you would be greatly rewarded. More so than keeping firm grasp on your country ever could. So? What do you say?

The Doge looks at the Imperial Diplomat, nodding as if he is in agreement.

Doge: So, you could grant me anything? Truly? Well…

The Doge looks pensive, and then, opening his arms, he smiles broadly.

Doge: Well, I am certain that with all the recent additions to the Papal Empire, that it will be necessary to have overseers, governors who will see over different districts. I want to be one of them, Northern Europe. Understood? Give me this power, and you will have your answer. What do you say?

The Imperial Diplomat looks at some papers, more to hide his smile than anything else.

ID: Yes, I can see to it you get Northern Europe. It shall remain in your family for perpetuity. Is this acceptable?

The Doge laughs out loud, and grabs the Imperial Diplomats hand, shaking it vigorously.

Doge: Yes! Yes! I agree. So, now Venice and all her possessions belong to the Papal Empire. A great day for both nations, eh. Now! We have a drink to celebrate! A great day!

And so it is that Venice accepts the annexation offer by the Papal Empire. Now for France…

The news is met with joy in all parts of the Empire. However, news from the East is not so good. The Chagatai Khanate declares war, and soon after, so does Gujarat. Well, that is no good. The Armies there are spread out too much, dealing with Persia, the Marmeluks and now Gujarat and the Chagatai Khanate. Well, I have faith in them. Yes, they will not fail! Yes, they mustn’t!

Oman is next, it seems that every Muslim nation is pissed at the Empire for some reason.

1636 PT

This year, well, more Robes are called up, as the battles in the East are very distracting. Reports have it that the Chagatai and Gujarat forces are nowhere to be found, and that Vijayangar, that owns all of the subcontinent, has joined Gujarat. That is unfortunate, as no troops are available for war with them. Peace, buy peace from them.

The war with Spain goes very well, and war with the Chagatai Khanate reaches an impasse, as their capital is under siege, but the fort cannot be assaulted because there aren’t enough men to do so.

With China, well, nothing happens. It can’t, at least not yet. Though, should war with the Chagatai Khanate go well, an avenue into China would exist. But not now, later on. Peace with them will be bought with coin, hopefully. Next year. Next year…

I am also informed, after the fact, the Kaliphate, as well as the Hedjaz, have declared war on the Empire. Great, more dispersing of the troops. I need it like I need another hole in my head, ach!

[B1637 PT[/B]

Well, the Kaliphate falls, absorbed into the Empire. How they expected to defeat the Empire without any army is beyond m comprehension. Well, they suffered for it. Now for the Hedjaz.

Oman is a thorn in the side, burning several trading posts, and it is with great difficulty that Robes are sent to that region. Persia and the Marmeluks both are under relative control, Spain is getting beaten up, at least on the mainland, the capital of Chimu falls, after the Long March to there succeeds, and now new maps are opened up to the Empire. Songhai is almost ready to take Dakar with their massive 32,000 strong army, and China is still China. Aloof, distant, arrogant. Let them be.

The 22nd of August sees news that Sibir, along with Nogai, the Golden Horde and Algiers have all declared war on the Empire. With Persia offering peace in a desperate attempt to restore order in their realm, I am confident that the new enemies will be no trouble for the Imperial Robes.

Peace is made on the 27th of September with the Chagatai Khanate. The demands are simple: Total and complete control over Tian Shan.

On the 1st of November, the Commander of the Army informs me that the army has improved itself due to all these wars. [Land Tech 26 reached]

1638 PT

Well, this year sees some good news from Persia. Hormouz, Elbruz, Fars, Mekran, Kushka, Baluchistan, Lut, Khorasan and Zahedan are all now a part of the Empire. The Marmeluks are next.

On June 1st, Chimu is no more, annexed. That deals with the problems in South America, but not elsewhere.

Well, due to the shift of power in the region, it comes as little surprise when the Inca Empire declares war on the Empire. I have the 17,000 Chimu troops and the 7,000 Robes in Chimu, and they will provide the runt of the attack until more troops can be brought in.

The 3rd of July sees news that China realizes that war with the Empire is foolish, and a status quo is reached between the two giants.

The battles with Spain are beginning to tell, as revolts happen every month. Peace must be made, at whatever cost.

That they offer peace is great, but that what they offer is lost in the mounds of paperwork is not so great. Sufficed it to say that Spain and the Empire are at peace.

1639 PT

Well, the list of countries at war with the Empire as of January 1st 1639 PT are: Marmeluks, Songhai, Vijayangar and Arakan, Oman, Algiers and Sibir, the Inca Empire and Kazan. Of those. Kazan will be gone within a few months, Sibir is hopeless as it is impossible to reach their capital and strike a decisive victory. Algiers is the same, Oman has only Zanzibar left, and the Empire has a lot of minor fleets there that have to be cobbled together to form a fleet of any decent size. The Incas are being pushed back slowly, their capital already having fallen and their armies dispersed, and in Vijayangar, a new surge of troops from as far north as Astrakhan are helping to take the bite out of the Vijayangar offensive. Songhai is the only one that is truly worrisome. It may cost Dakar to make peace with them, and then a buildup will be made to destroy Morocco, and from there, Songhai and Benin will fall. But not yet.

Finally, after much humming and hawing, Sibir grants the Empire Kustanai. It is better than nothing.

On April 9th, the Marmeluks finally see the light, offering Nile, Alexandria, Cyrenaica, Quattara, Syria and Tripolitania.

So, the list of nations at war with the Empire is now only: Songhai, Vijayangar and Arakan, Oman, the Incas, and Kazan. It is all falling into place…

On the 17th of April, Nubia declares war, and the Empire finds herself in a quandary. There is no way to get troops to the Nile, as Egypt belongs to the Marmeluks. The fleets are not yet assembled, and the troops are busy elsewhere. Payment will need to be made to sooth these savages.

On August 17th, Kazan is absorbed into the Empire, and the DPC is ordered for the decade. More offense. Simple as that. [Offensive DP +1, maxed out]

1640 PT

After ordering raising War Taxes throughout the Empire, the PGs in Chimu are able to call up troops to send into the Inca Empire provinces. As well, Vijayangar is placed upon the ropes as Robes are called up Gujarat, Rajputana and Bikaner. They will head into Vijayangar, though one province remains.

The Kongo has declared war on the Empire, but they are ignored. They burn a trading post, but that is all they can do. Songhai still has Dakar under siege, and that is a lost cause. Oman has only Zanzibar, and a fleet has finally been cobbled together. 11 warships and 5 transports, out of Basrah. A force of 21,000 Robes will sail to Zanzibar, place it under siege, and more Robes will be ferried over as needed. Hopefully they will not be.

On the 8th of February, Vijayangar is offered peace with Maharashtra, Mangalore, Madras, Bihar and Odisa being given to the Empire. Excellent.

Zanzibar falls in August of the year, and Oman is ordered to give up Zanzibar, Masirah, Dofhar and Al Kharam. They do so.

August 27th sees the Inca Empire absorbed into the Empire. There is room on this earth for one Empire.

The remaining nations at war with the Empire will be bought off whenever I can afford it.

1641 PT

Finally! After having called up one last time, offers are made to the Kongo, Nubia and Songhai. Nubia gets a pittance of 650 ducats. Of course, since there were over 5,000 in the treasury to start, it matters not. Kongo gets 1,250 ducats, and Songhai gets 1,900 ducats. They all accept the offers. They would be stupid not to.

Finally, after so very long, a moment’s respite. Time to pore over the new lands added to Empire…

Screenies... Colonial Reach

Ok,I have 17 of them and they will be sorted into three posts. This one is for Colonial Reach..

In North America, it is only the Huron, the Dakota and France who have any real power...

colonial_reach_northamerica.jpg

In Central America, the situation is different. Spain has much land, and many are very strong...

colonial_reach_centralamerica.jpg

South America is perhaps the place that worries Colonial Reach the most. It has the most chance for turmoil. Look at the Northern coast of South America. the Papists, China and Spain hold portions.

colonial_reach_northcoastsouthamerica.jpg

The remainder of South America is split between the Papists and Spain. Colonial Reach wishes it were not so...

colonial_reach_southamerica.jpg

And in Southeast Asia, Colonial Reach is severely outnumbered...
