Several folks have pointed out that when you add buildings, Noble Estate provinces actually reduce the manpower because of autonomy.

Doesn't this need a serious rework?

The bonuses granted by estates should be multiplicative instead of additive, to counter the effect of multiplicative LA.

I think this sort of thing needs more attention, as (so it seems to me), the whole system doesn't make sense. You give up LA (ouch!) but in turn you get double the manpower boost (awesome!). Okay, I can work with that, it's a specialized province. But the manpower is actually still penalized? That makes no sense.

I know you get some national level bonuses too, but this really just seems like it's not WAD. If it *is* for some odd reason, it needs to be reworded. Saying the Nobles give you +50% manpower bonus to a province is misleading at best, considering you're actually LOWERING your manpower by doing so.

Yes I noticed this too, I had a nice manpower province in Kazan, I saw building a barracks would give me 1700 more manpower. It also had a fort so I thought this is a good place to put the nobility. When I did I would get 1375 or so manpower from said barracks.

To be more precise, it reduces your manpower in provinces that have >150% total manpower bonuses as 0.75 * (1.5 + 0.5) = 1.5. For provinces below that level (due to different culture, etc) they add manpower.

Never build buildings in provinces you want to, or may need to, give to estates.

In my opinion, all modifiers should be multiplicative, not just LA

This, and that it seems to be encouraged to give CoT and Estuaries to the Burghers, which kills shipbuilding times, are my main beefs with the estate system.

aren't the befits of have estates more to do with their national effects and the ability to use them to gain free bonuses. While giving away a lot of provinces you loose out on raw territorial power but gain other bonuses, the territorial bonuses are simply the compensation you get from gaining that autonomy.

When we think about it... the best provinces to give to estates are in fact the wrong cultured ones :D
Or the recently conquered ones, which already have high enough autonomy that the autonomy floor of the estate won't have any effect for a while.
