Yup. I find it strange to lock it behind Psionic theory. I can harvest it but not use it in any way except sell it (and strangely even without psy there is demand for it).
It should probably be locked behind the ascension perk due to the tech using it requiring the shroud.
Or better solution, they should really give it a non psy use. If possible a useful stackable building that uses it.
And same for living metal and antimatter for that matter.
Actually, Psionic Theory is available to any non-gestalt consciousness. It's just rare for some. To get a good chance to find it hire a maniacal scientist, or if you're a materialist, get a latent psionic, psionic, or psionic expert for your research. Other than that it's just a rare tech that has Spiritualists have a double chance of getting.

They are quite a bit better but at that point you usually get them that hardly matters unless you are in a highly competive scenario which is unlikely at that point.

One would expect much more uses for it for psionic and non-psionic empires and more flavour (blackmarket) considering that this stuff is supposed to be highly addictive.

Anyone ever seen AI use psi shields?
I am uncertain if the AI can even go into the Shroud. At least I found no AI weights on any of the options when I last looked.

I read the files again. Not a single AI weight on anything.

While I could see it do the bulk of shroud interactions more or less automatically (it is really just a choice between doing and exit), I doubt this works with more complicated choices (like becomming a Imperial Cult).

Thematically I thought motes were the spice, as you get them from deserts. Then again the effect of zro could make it go either way.

No complex code is needed, to make the illusion of a Intelligent Decision.

Thematically I thought motes were the spice, as you get them from deserts. Then again the effect of zro could make it go either way.
Well, motes are "just" an industrial resource, while Zro is rarer and therefor more special. Although... three industrial resources, three ascension paths....

The gasses are usefull for the Advanced Energy Hub as well as Terraforming Machine Worlds.
And the Energy hub got extra Districts and Costs for Robotic Empires in 2.2.5.
Of course gases are also usefull for Food production and Gene Clinics T2, wich puts it more on the Biological path.
