Why is there no win conditions, like conquer 50 provinces, or be the biggest country by end of time period

as far as i know only prestige counts as victory (in MP) anyway, and that is by no means of measuring how the country can perform in battles. someone can turtle in corner with prestige going up and only fighting some wars to keep it up.

there need to be more options for victory conditions, at least for MP

You see how large and powerful an empire you can grow until you get TOO powerful and bored, then play a different country. :) As for MP victory conditions, that's up to you! Everyone start with a 1 prov country, see who can grow to 20 first, or see who can have the best tech in 100 years, or whatever it is you wanna do. That's the coolness of it, you set your own win conditions. Maybe you impose rules for everyone, see who can grow the biggest in a certain time frame through only diplo-annex or something.

thats not what im after. a set of rules is what people play by, if you leave it up to someone to come up with rules, it descents into chaos. playing for sake of playing is only funfor so long. there has to be specific goals to win in single or MP scenario, free for all or co-op.

EU3 is all about open sandbox gameplay with no real "winner". While indeed you can "lose", you cannot really "win".

And it is very unlikely many here would want that mechanic changed since it is what gives EU3 such a huge dynamic.

If you NEED the program to tell you that you beat another player on predetermined rules for goals to achieve on an open ended sand box type game, you should re-evaluate those whom you play with.

so basically, the game's ultimate goal is to survive for 400 years, judging on what you have said.

that is sad.

all we are asking for is SOME tweakable options to force a win (like in totl war series) or some other paradox titles.

The game is all about setting up your own desires as your personal goals.

All that is lacking in that regard is a "Congratulations, you've won!" screen at the end. Instead, you get a nice brief on the history of your country.

I think it's fantastic, and a far cry from "sad".

One could argue that that's what the missions are... also one could argue that prestige is the measure of the game being won or lost... there's a ranking aswell, y'know. :p

I know they're usually not really challenges, but you've got the right attitude anyway. Deblobbing BBB is a fine one.

They added in the mission feature to give you little victory conditions throughout the game.

seeing as they added some little victory conditions throughout the game, shows that the game was lacking in that respect, and they semi-rectified it. i guess it's a slow process of getting it right without alienating old fans and pleasing new fans of genre

Why is there no win conditions, like conquer 50 provinces, or be the biggest country by end of time period

Well, who won in real life? Did England, with her mighty Empire and maritime power win the time period? Did Prussia, who saw meteoric rise to Great Power status in less than 150 years? Did Muscowy, who went from just another city state, to a world power, and with a promising future? Did Tokugawa Japan, having finally united the country for the first time in centuries? Did the USA, having established their long cherished land of freedom?

You can't just assign simple win conditions to 400 years of game play, unless you want the goal to always be a WC. Use your imagination, and set your own creative rules and goals at the outset of each campaign.

You will not see an end victory condition. It is contrary to the very essence of the game. If thats what ou are looking for, you may have to look somewhere else.

And to date, you are the first person I've ever seen on the forums want an end victory condition.

the funny part of paradox games is to see how u can do during the timeframe as a leader of a country...

i don't need someone to tell me "u where good, oh yes", i know if i am and if i'm not...

do i want to unify italy? i will try

do i want to colonise north america? i will focus on that

do i want to unify siria or india starting from beluchistan? i will try (and actually i did and it was kinda funny on magna mundi)

in real world there isn't anyone who tell u "ehy, u re the winnere here dude"... i just enjoy to see how my country is doing in the most "historical" environment possible (sadly enough paradox really screwed that part with eu 3... they could have at least leaved the possibility to create events that fire in a certain date... damn them)

don't give them this kind of ideas mate, pls... :(

if u want u can decide it for ur own... yup, i suppose they could do something for the mp but, seriously, u don't need it 'cause u can already settle the rules by urself

if you leave it up to someone to come up with rules, it descents into chaos.

Not if you're playing with mature people.

At least not in my experience.

When I start a new game I always have very specific goals I want to complete. For example in my venice game i'm planning to annex all latin & greek provinces, form italy, then convert them all to lombard & reformed.

If there were hardcoded win conditions it wouldn't be as fun. Consider the missions that your country is given as short-term goals if you're looking for something in-game.

Did the USA, having established their long cherished land of freedom?
.

You mean conquest and complete military domination of North America, destabilising their only direct land rival down to a third world country and wrestling the Overlord Crown out of the European's hand to vassalise most of Latin America?

Because if you look at it the way EU3, and on a geopolitical lense, that's how it has been.

(This is not active criticism of the USA, as most countries have had also cruel history. I just find funny the whole "America is Special" view of your history. You have won your peace trough clever and ruthless geopolitical stances)
