Hello there. I bought today the game for Xbox One, and have the same issue. On my TV (AOC with 32") which is some years old i have no option for Overscan.
With the resolution settings like 16:9 or 4:3 it makes no different.
The Attachment display the screen on TV. Have made the photo with a Smartphone cause with Screenshot function from the Xbox the whole screen was displayed o_O
Without the menue on left side its not really possible to play..

Is there a chance that the game got's an update to set the screensize like in other games?
Cause i have not the intention to buy only for this game a new TV, as long the current is working without troubles.

greets

Look at my post on Page 1 - there will be an option somewhere. If there isn't, then start saving for a new TV - your image is being unnecessarily cropped on *everything* you're watching on that TV.

What is your TV's exact model?

Dont know the exact model, doesn't have the operation manual. What i know is that about 50 games from Xbox 360 and Xbox One doesn't have this cropped problems.
So the failure is not the TV.

I have a veon 48inch tv (or 50 maybe) and the screen is cropped at the bottom. Not only does it make the game look unfinished, but it also cuts off the industrial track of the rci tracker. I can only guess what my industrial demand is, as I cannot find the rci tracker in other menus. Ive tried to find an overscan type option on my tv but I do not think it exists for these tvs.

On the subject of buying a new tv to play cities skylines, you need to consider that the xbox is marketed as a home entertainment system so is likely going to be connected to the biggest tv in the house. In my case, and many others, we chose a cheaper tv as it means we could get an even bigger tv.

Ive already got a smaller, more expensive tv for playing games more seriously, but cities skylines is a perfect game for me to run in my living room. Its slow enough I can still interact with my kids, and the sounds are relaxed and innoffensive. There obviously should be a safe zone option in the xbox or in the game, and Im certainly not buying a new main tv just to see the industry tracker in one game.

I'm another in the "TV works okay in every other respect - so I'm not buying a new telly for the sake of just one game" camp. It's not new by any means, but I have absolutely no issues with any other games...if they are being cropped, it's not affecting gameplay detrimentally like with Cities Skylines. As it is I spend more time focused on the information just off the edge of the screen that I can't see, than on the stuff I can, and it's just not worth playing. So any fix would be totally appreciated.

I downloaded Cities Skylines on Xbox One this morning and was very disappointed to discover there is no way to edit the size of the screen to fit my TV. Normally this wouldn't be too much of an issues however you have so much valuable stuff along the bottom of the screen that I cannot see a lot of the stuff like the demand for industry etc basically making the game unplayable as I can't view half the things I need to see.

I am hoping this is just an oversight on my part and that I am being stupid for not being able to locate the option to adjust the screen size however I have checked all options menus. I have a 36 inch TV so its not like I am playing on a tiny one anyway.

Really disappointed if the screen size is not editable as I have effectively just wasted £30 on a game I was really looking forward to.
I hear quite a few gamers running into this on xbox one. This a suggestion for the developer i wander if has to do with the old PAL, vs NTSC video options the two different countries use for TV display i may be wrong but just a suggestion for the developer. Good luck great game and with updates sure to be even better.

The PAL/NTSC stuff hasn't mattered since HDTV's became standard. I explained on Page 1 the solution to the problem.

So then do what I suggested and change the setting on your TV instead of expecting developers to force themselves to cater to your unconfigured equipment.

A bit harsh I think. If all the other games people have worked fine then how is the person's 'unconfigured' equipment the problem? Even if it is a case of simply playing with TV settings then why do so many other games seem to be able to get it right from the go? Hardly the user's fault here, just my opinion..... ;-)

maybe other games haven't done it right, maybe it's just the other games don't have the ui all along the bottom of the screen so players have never noticed that there is missing information before.

Please stop with the "it's the TV setting" talk. I've played a dozen games, dozens of movies, and use a dozen different apps on my XBO and have never had this problem until this game. And some TV such as mine, although being a 1080p, do not have options to change the aspect ratio.

Not just that, doesn't every game has a basic option menu where you can modify visual things like size, or brightness. Bunch of them let you even do that shit the first time you start a game.

It is now over a month since the game came out and still no fix. Come on Paradox give us some sort of clue instead of just plain ignoring your customers. It is obviously a very real issue that is stopping people playing, but then again you have our money so why hurry?

They have a patch ready its just awaiting Microsoft certification. Although I'm really not sure which bugs the patch fixes because they haven't bothered to mention it.

Would be nice to know what the patch fixes, but I'm pretty sure it is for the save/load issue. I contacted them direct by email and was basically called a liar by one of their staff so I don't think their customer service skills are very good to be honest.

But it is the TV's settings. Why are you covering your ears to the problem? Change the setting and never worry about it again. There are plenty of games and apps out there which don't cater to your issues.

RE: Apps on Xbox One - there is a setting from the console which sets all apps to adhere to that border. Disable it, and watch how much content you're missing out on on literally everything plugged in to your TV.

What's even funnier is that it's been over a month and you still haven't changed a simple setting on your TV... ;)

I have checked my settings along with everybody else. Do you think if I/we could change our settings then we would? Not everyone can afford to go out and as you put in a previous post "buy a new TV". All you do is criticise and make fun of people who have paid good money for a game that unfortunately for some is not completely playable. Perhaps your tone would help a bit, I am by no means stupid, I know how TVs work. The lack of information from Paradox is shocking. You, Jegior, really come across as a nasty piece of work with your quips. If I require help from you I will ask, I don't need some jumped up know it all to keep shouting down my post when I ask a simple question. Perhaps Paradox could reply, that would be the best.

Well it was a suggestion for gamers with the issue. I do not have that issue looks and runs great for me on xbox one. And yes i have the steam version for pc from way back, they had me hooked when cities in motion came years back. Good luck and have nice day.

Clearly they haven't.

When I see people in this thread say things like "I shouldn't have to change my TV's settings when they've been fine up to now", no I don't believe so lol

Not everyone can afford to go out and as you put in a previous post "buy a new TV". All you do is criticise and make fun of people who have paid good money for a game that unfortunately for some is not completely playable.

Firstly, I'm not making fun of anyone here. I simply gave some detailed and arguably helpful instructions (since a few people here have responded saying they found the setting to fix the problem), and some users who can't find the setting are blaming the developers over their own poor purchase decision. It's like buying the cheapest computer you can find only to discover that it doesn't play X game very well, and then blaming the developers for not providing options for those 'who cannot afford more expensive equipment'.

Secondly, if you can't afford it, then save or learn to save for it. No one is assuming that you are expected to be able to afford purchasing a new TV immediately. Next time, take a look in store, have a look through the settings, research a little or even ask online for advice instead of going off impulse buys - heck if money is that tight for you, you wouldn't want to just buy into something without knowing what you're purchasing outside of its price and brand. Places like Reddit and AVForums exist for that very reason.

Perhaps by the time you finish saving for the TV new content and stability patches will be available for the game (as evident with the recent update), but this overscan problem is a non-issue that affects a very small amount of people that is only unsolvable for those with very old and/or cheap equipment.
