Shouldn't maps have some water "zones",just like zones with maximum output for wind turbines? This is how it looks in SimCity 2013:

Well you are taking drinking water from rivers, so I think this is just useless. Maybe later upon a time when will be in game more technical buildings will this come too (if it will come ofc).

That will be nice, although i will probably take 100% of my water from the river since it gives me x2 times and it cost the same as the water tower. Anyway this is not Sim City 2015.

Yup,that's right. What I'm talking about is maybe, when starting a new city, you don't want to build pipes from your first houses to the river and also supply it with electricity

water towers don't take water from rivers;)

Oh. I didn't notice in any video there could be water towers. In every video I saw water was taken from river by this :

RPS_Cities_Skylines_10.jpg

But I actually think it will be developed into the game and once there will be water towers and water treatment system witch one change sewage to clean water somehow :D
Then this water map will not be pointless.
But I can be wrong and there are water towers yet. Then I'm blind and sorry for my comment.

Or i'm just totally stupid and these buildings are towers and they don't take water from river :D

Yes, there are other sources of fresh drinking water besides rivers.

Reservoirs:

Underground water sources:

Water storage tanks (for the smaller towns):

Reservoirs: Well you can have something like that, just pump water from a lake.

Anyway the game dont have a map water and i dont think its moddable.

Water towers and treatment plants are both already in the game.

You need to have a river/lake in every map (or at least your starting title) to dump the sewage.

"To function, a map needs to have various outside connections. The most important one is the highway connection. The map needs at least one incoming and outgoing connection for each of the different types of transport but the starting tile has to have at least a highway connection to be playable since the player has only access to road building in the beginning of the game. The checklist is handy in these cases to keep track of the outside connections and therefore the map maker can easily see how many points of connection they have at any given moment."

This is the latest gameplay by quill18.As you can see, water towers are ingame, just like the locked treatment plants far right,so you shouldn't really need a river to supply your city with water and also dump its sewage.
