The USSR is Russia! im a little disappointed given all the effort that has gone into this game. All the soviet republics i.e Ukraine, Belorussia are treated like client states, the same as Poland east Germany ec and not part of the actual USSR. Is there a way this can be amended? Only the soviet socialist repubic of Russia is the USSR

It is intended that the soviet states are colonies, to be able to simulate the collaps of the USSR properly.
And no, they arent treated the same way as the other european countries, as Poland or east germany. Poland and east germany are completely independent countries, while the USSR states will give you any money or ressources you ask them, hence their colony status.

You can mod it if you want to, you can put different countries to one together, but not create a completely new one.

I made a very simple mod for this exact same thing.
http://www.bgforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=18430

Hi
thank you for your mod! It's really cool.

May I ask you to make also another one, please ? ))
I think it's fair that USA and USSR has to have united territories. Or ... it would be also fair to make some colonies for USA if USSR has it ( so you can divide USA by influence as well ). Can you please keep USSR colonies in another mod but create some colonies for US, such as - Florida, Alaska, California, Texas and Hawaii? :))

I think that it was because the manpower the USSR would be given by being totally united would cause just a clusterfunk of imbalance.

It has been stated that it is too allow the USSR to collapse like it did IRL.

Not to mention that the USSR was group of cultures and ethnicities who despised each other and were kept working together by the threat of Russian tanks. Nothing had really changed since the Czar added them to the Russian Empire before it. As soon as these groups realized in 1990 that the Supreme Soviet wasn't going to use force to keep them there, they all ran for the door.

Not quite accurate. If it hadn't been for the coup attempt they may have remained in some sort of confederation. And they certainly did not all hate eachother.

very true , they were about to sign a new union treaty ,but ironically the hardliners helped destroy any chance of a union. After the coup it was all over.

And now we are left with one rogue superpower (USA) with no rival to create a stable balance of power.

Et al the devs, they only said something about how it represented the relationships, also, holy hell King Prussian, political bias much?

In the last 10 years, since 9-11, I've grown pretty numb to such net bias, and ignore much of the passing shots. There was a good amount on show at the Paradox forums when that happened, even. People believe all kinds of conspiracy theories and fabricated bias these days, and tend to wanna regurgitate them about the internet at every opportunity.

Not really worth anyone's time to bother with unless they keep rambling on & on. ;)

Well I think the point is missed by a mile here. The question is not if the different SSRs liked being a part of the USSR. The qustion is: Did the USSR have 180 million or 100 million tax payers in '49? (sure kids don't pay tax....)
Same with labor force or the draft. The USSR have effectivly lost almost half of its manpower.
This is a serious nerfing of one of the two major regions of this game. Should that not pose some quite serious balancing issues? I can't help shake the feeling that this was done for more reasons than just being able to model the fall of the USSR.

Its kind of a big deal and could have been a game breaker for me. Luckily it can be fixed. (Now just need to get to my gaming rig. 700km to the north)

Not to mention the more general problems: You can get money/resources from the colonies, but you have absolutely zeroidea what they are producing. They could be making or consuming 1 ton of any given good, or 1 billion tons, running a trillion dollar annual deficit or $500B in the black, you have no way of knowing. You can still build facilities there, but you can't remove old ones. You can't control social spending or tax rates (even if it just mimicked your own settings for Russia...), and on and on.

You get nearly zero control over what is supposedly part of the same country. They were not autonomous regions with a loose alliance. IMO, it creates a gaggle of issues, to solve one (dissolution of the USSR should it occur).

Better control and more data need to be made available to the player at the least. Income, spending, resource production/consumption, manpower made available for military use, etc.
