No US civil war

I have played 4 games now (UK, Belgium, Peidmont-Sardinia, and Prussia) and I have no once seen the US have its civil war. What gives?

Is this just coincidence or is it really hard to trigger?

(I also noticed that the West tends to get shared out by the UK and Mexico - the US never seems to go far west at all.)

Thats odd, I've never had a game where the USA didn't have the Civil War, and most of the time they've been able to defeat the CSA. At least, while playing a different country.

Once, as the USA, I somehow missed the Civil War...dunno why, I think I should have had early succession as in Bleeding Kansas and Comp. of 1850 I chose Pro-North choices. *shrug* Maybe that caused it.

Playing as UK usa civil war didnt happen. Which was sad as i was planning to reclaim it.

That's might be it, personally I've always felt that if the federal goverment cracked down hard on that it would have prevented the civil war.

The US Civil War is probable but not inevitable, as the event that triggers the secession of the South (14118) does have some triggers to it. Essentially, it depends on whether the Republican Party is the government or what decisions were made with respect to Kansas & New England.

I got the ACW in 6/54 after going w/ all the pro-abolitionist event choices. I think I got bleeding Kansas after the war ended (2/55).

In my current game as Belgium the USA managed to avoid the Civil War. This is the first time I've seen it in any of my games. However, I noticed USA still got the Reconstruction events in the mid-1860's. Maybe that's something to add to the 1.02 patch.

I had one game were South Carolina secedes and the USA has an event "brother shall not fight brother" or something like that,

there never was a war and South Carolina is still confederate by 1900 without any war,

nobody else seceded, is this a bug?

It is not bug - the US went with choice B in the "American Civil War" event & thus decided to let the CSA become independent without a war.

No, this is a counterfactual that historians have sometimes squabbled over. South Carolina seceded first, long before the other Confederate states. Had the federal government not made some clumsy political moves - and had it been willing to accept South Carolina's secession - the rest of the South might have stayed in the Union.

Which would have left South Carolina looking pretty silly. I recall a line from the period about South Carolina being too large to be an insane asylum, but too small to be a nation . . .

Sometimes I think our state motto should be "The Little State that Started the Big War, and Would Do It Again if it Thought it Could Get Away With It".

Current game as Brazil. Nothing happened, but Texas still exists. & even has a colony in the pacific..... I guess it's related, not sure, though.

indeed, they want to be confederate and the US recognises them, but are they willing to stay in a Union that's going for trade tarifss and abolishing slavery?

perhaps NC and Vg and ... Stay in Union, but other Southern states might join SC - that seems logical to me,

In my current game as Transvaal, the United States has not split in any visible fashion, and I am racing against them to colonize most of Africa (they have the northwest half, I have the southeast). They have also absorbed nearly all of the Pacific islands.

I figured that the computer must have done things just right to avoid civil war and secession entirely, but then Lincoln was assassinated in 1865! I think these events need to be more thoroughly tested and repaired. Clearly not enough was done in that vein before release.

SC you mean,

I think when SC goes, those other ones go also. They had a completely different view on free trade and the states dominant exporting product were the products grown at the slave plantations,

North was protectionist and racing to abolish slavery,
