I don't know if this was posted before but, to be honest, I don't want to search the whole forum for it.

I would like to see a "No Upgrade" - checkbox, just the same as the "Prioritize" thing in the corps-screen.

For example: I want to build some light armor divisions for use in africa, just to be a little bit historical, and there is no way of preventing them to get upgraded. This way the only use of researching "advanced light armor" is to get the brigade out of it. But I want light armor divisions that will stay light armor divisions as long as I want them to.

Or if I have a few divisions as a reserve beind the frontlines, it'll be usefull to give the order that these divs are not being upgraded.
My frontline troops will upgrade faster without to "prioritize" every single corps and the less important troops can be upgraded later by just uncheck the "no upgrade" - option.

That is a great idea. Although then I would like to see a reference when yu leave your cursor on the upgrade bar telling how many points are needed for units checked no upgrade.

This would be a good enhancement with the No Upgrade option (which I also like). I'd like it to go farther and give you a unit-by-unit breakdown of the upgrade time/cost (on the Stats screen, or the unit details screen).

I know you can get a "% Complete" number from the Statistics menus, but it would be useful to know how many IC/turn it costs to upgrade a unit, and how many days to complete it. Especially when IC is scarce, HQ or Armor unit upgrades can block off the queue for months. I like to micromanage by picking, for example, an Infantry Corps to prioritize, so that I get some Inf upgrades through while still making progress on that darn HQ. It would be a lot easier if I knew exactly how many points I needed where.

(I know, 1/2 cost and 1/4 time, but then you need to factor in Slider effects. And the cost and time are constantly being affected by Ministers and Technology.)

You can get around it by micromanagment, prioritize all units except for these you don't want to upgrade... but you must often look at slider how many units is still to go. And if these units have brigades to upgrade it's more complicated

Too bad. I would really have appreciated it. I would even suggest a 'upgrade-window' in the research or production window where you could give an order of preference for upgrades. The CPU usually starts upgrading the Inf, something most pple do not want to, planes getting upgraded at the end. My preference, if I do upgrades is to upgrade units with long production times first.... Well, I'll have to go on micromanaging, then....

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted to say, but researching advanced light tanks doesn't affect the upgrades from light to medium tanks.

IMHO the light armor brigades should be placed right behind the two armored car brigades, right now they are nice to have but come very late.
I'd also welcome a "do not upgrade" function, but Johan said it won't happen.

A clone of the production queue for upgrades would be perfect but I suspect that it would be a major rewrite so I don't expect it. Guess we'll have to wait for HOI 3.

I was always under the impression that armor wouldn't upgrade from light to medium unless Adv. Lt. Arm was researched.

No, Improved Light Armor (the tech that gives the last light armor division model) ist enough. It would be pretty late otherwise, because Advanced Light Armor has the historical year of 1943.

Light Armour Division , model 3 (which requires "improved light armour" to be researched - improved light armour happens to be the pre-requisite for "basic medium armour" as well) upgrades to Medium Armour Division, model 3 (Which requires "basic medium armour" to be researched).

"Advanced light armour" is a tech that yields the light armour brigade.

I have figured out a way to having NON UPGRADING units. It would have to be a MOD so I am hoping I will be asked by someone doing a MOD how I figured out what to do. I am just starting to learn to MOD but I did figure out how I could produce either Upgradable or NON Upgradable units. But the decision must be decided when you manufacture them. Atleast this would be one way to give you atleast a choice and would give modders the ability to add units that can't be upgraded or even Unique units if they want...not sure how Modable the game is so my idea might not work totally...but I did test having Light Armor being upgradable or not upgradable and it did work atleast for stats and stuff...need to figure out the graphic stuff.
