Hey. I have returned but I'm sure noone even noticed me not being here. Anyway. I have a question. I am playing as Scotland and have decided to declare an early war on England while they are trying to prevent Eire from forming. I marched into their land and i didnt take any cities but killed about 19000 troops and lost maybe 4000. Two questions: what does it take to get one of those stars on the peace offering menu and when i asked them for a no tribute peace they rejected. Ive tried this with two stars for me before and they did not accept. Is this an AI error or do i need to fight more?

What stars are you talking about? or are you prehaps in the wrong forum? If its EU1 you are talking about you get stars for taking provinces, and you will eventually get a star for winning battles but you have to win quite a lot.

Also if you are playing the later patches about 1.06 or 1.07 the AI gets a hidden extra star to stop it from accepting white peace before a shot has even been fired.

very good Sabaron, now actually look at the posting times to see that everybody sent their posts within 1 minute of each other, so people were posting as he put his correction up.

And you are wrong about only capturing provinces gets you stars, you can get stars for winning battles, it's just hard, you have to win a lot.

With 2 stars you can usually get a status quo peace. Usually but not always. Just bad luck. Try again.

I usually capture several provinces including the ones i want and then go for the capital province. If you than capture it you will automattically get 6 stars(even if you didnt capture something else). After this i can demand 2 provinces and 250 dukats, and they will accept it 99 out of 100 times. Dont wait for them to offer you something good, cos they will offer you their worse provinces.

A general rule: Do not capture any really bad provinces! A captured little 200 soul African colony will prevent you from getting good offers from them.

I usually take (if I have the chance) four or five provinces I want and the capital and then just wait for the offers to come in... You have the luxury to turn down a few offers, and then eventually you will get what you waited for.

Dunno if you're playing GC or IGC - if GC, you can send tiny cav forces into Lincoln, Cornwall, and most of the Irish provinces (except Meath) - they don't have fortresses - and get more stars that way. Doesn't work in IGC, as they added fortresses there. I used to use this strategy a lot as France, in order to force England to give me Calais very early on.

Getting a star for battles won, usually means that you at least have to annihilate 30-40.000 enemies without getting too many of your own troops killed. Mind you, I don't know the exact figure, that's just my estimate.
