maybe the kids are going on bike to school? with an bike line next to the street.

Here in the Netherlands we all go with a bike to school. Also there are always bike lines next to the street like this.

or just on the edges on the street so the cars ride next to you.

I hope someone mods in bikes and bike paths and lanes really soon after the game launches. I can't wait to make my bicycle centered super city.

On the 15th August on the Cities Skylines facebook page there is a screenshot of a yellow bus with the caption "A school bus following it's route through a suburbian area"

Perhaps it was planned but never made it past alpha?

Yes, truly, you would know what it was to be a king if you rode on a school bus like us.

For what it's worth, this isn't every school bus rider, but I lived a half hour from school, in a rural area with miles between some houses...I was actually luckier than half my bus in living even that close to the schools. No sidewalks, winding and narrow county route, awake and on the bus before light in the winter months, so biking was not an option. There was no public city bus service period, nevermind there possibly being stops and a line going out where I lived. America is larger and sparser in a lot of places, not full of spoiled brats.

When I went to primary school (grades 1-6, ages 6/7 - 12/13) here in Finland, we had a school taxi that took pupils to the school (only a small rural school, about 40 pupils). I got a ride on the taxi every year except when I was on my 4th grade, when I had to ride a bike. C. a. 3 kilometres on a dangerous road filled with lorries and other heavy traffic, and no sidewalks. That was fun.

In my country there's a thing called the school run, its where all the parents drive their kids to school even its only around the block. They block up all the roads, park where they like so there fat kid has the shortest distance to walk to the school gate. And there's also an invention called a lollie pop lady, who is a woman (sometimes a man) standing in the middle of roads with a big yellow stick stopping all the traffic along the route so parents and kids can cross adding to the mayhem and gridlock. You even see them at crossings with traffic lights for some reason.

School buses are rare, most use public transport or walk depending on the distance, Where I live to Senior school many walk up to 1.5 miles there and back every day, I walked it, got a lift on a rare occasion. And that is probably the norm around the country.

So if they simulated this it would be very realistic, and more realistic then a school bus. :)

Here we got something called "Walking bus", especially for low grade kids under 10.

One day in a week one or more specific adult(s) from the kid's parents is chosen to wait at a specific spot in the neighborhood, the other parents bring their kids there (and go to work or back home) and then the specific adult(s) and the kids walk to the school all together.

With no sense of time/schedule/routine in the game, why would you need a school bus system?

Kids will go to school whenever they feel like it. 3am? that works, time to walk to school, hopefully a teacher is there because they felt like coming in to teach that day...

The public transport in Skylines is all free at point of use, so as long as we put bus stops near our schools the kids should be fine.

I thought I saw a video where they showed the profit from public transport, I could be wrong about that, I'd need to check back through them.

As to School Buses, I always thought that was more unique to America.

I remember - Mariina I think it was - replying directly to a question and saying there was no cost to travel by any means, so the Cims just chose whatever way was quickest. I reckon they must pay for it in their taxes or something?

Wrt school buses, I once went to a UK school in a semi-rural suburb. Parents of one of the children at that school decided to put on a school bus, and they simply hired a tour coach for two hours a day, the father driving, and the mother acting as cabin crew, and those of us who wanted to use it had to pay by the term. It used to stop at unmarked regular places like "Outside no.38, Gibson Drive" and kids who lived near any stopping point would wait there on the pavement.

I reckon you're right, I think it's memory failure on my part.
