Well, there aren't even school buses in the first place, I don't think. Students will have to take public transport or walk to school. Or drive (depending on their age) maybe, it might be possible for parents to drive them to school.

In Spain, unless the school is outside the city (strange), there's no school bus. Every time I went to high school I walked half an hour.

Yes, personally, I love to walk to go to my college or wherever, even with bad weather. It is nice to feel the breeze and move the body. It is also very healthy.
I saw in TV that some cities in USA doesn't have pavement enough because they go by car anywhere. How can you do that? :O

Many rural and suburban areas in the southern parts of the US have roads with no sidewalk. Generally, an intricate system of trenches and irrigation systems run alongside the roads where sidewalks would be. In the northern and more densely populated areas, sidewalks are a must, and are basically everywhere.

The US are a car country. Remember the scandals in the 1930's when car companies and oil companies bought bus and tramway companies to kill them ????

In my country there's a thing called the school run, its where all the parents drive their kids to school even its only around the block. They block up all the roads, park where they like so there fat kid has the shortest distance to walk to the school gate. And there's also an invention called a lollie pop lady, who is a woman (sometimes a man) standing in the middle of roads with a big yellow stick stopping all the traffic along the route so parents and kids can cross adding to the mayhem and gridlock. You even see them at crossings with traffic lights for some reason.

School buses are rare, most use public transport or walk depending on the distance, Where I live to Senior school many walk up to 1.5 miles there and back every day, I walked it, got a lift on a rare occasion. And that is probably the norm around the country.

So if they simulated this it would be very realistic, and more realistic then a school bus. :)

The US is indeed a car country... Companies like Ford said no to trolleys and trams in Detroit, MI because it didn't promote their vehicle use!

We still have plenty of school buses though! Here's just one example: This is a street view of a school bus depot in the South Bay area in Southern California. The text on the sides of some of these buses say, "LAIDLAW" which sounds kinda cool actually.

Nope, no school bus stops. There's a 1001 little details missing from "real" cities that could add more realism to the game, but you can't have it all and it still run. Everything from beggars on the corners, porta potties at construction sites, street cleaners (or the need for street cleaners), nighttime, cars disobeying traffic laws, to zoos and deer in the forest.

To me, I'll have plenty to worry about and take care of as it is. I not worried about the absence of school bus stops.... or even school busses for that matter. I'm much more into the Big Picture (placing enough schools in the proper areas) than the micromanagement/detail side (having to continually rearrange my school bus stops due to continued expansion of my urban areas).

Here most parents want to protect their kids from the traffic, so they drive their kids to school even if it's just a couple of blocks. This of course has the opposite effect, as it creates a huge amount of traffic around the school.

Here school buses only exist in rural areas with little or no public transport. In the cities, school kids get free public transport passes.

(...)school kids get free public transport passes.

Here as well if the distance is more than 4-5 km to the school. Never ever seen a school bus stop, so from my perspective it would feel somewhat unrealistic placing bus stops. However, being able to budget for extra buses to transport pupils would seem natural.

I would love to see it that if the age is young their parents will drive them to school but once they get to a certain age and if they are within good public transport then they will use that.

For an added bonus if they are a high wealth family then no matter what age the kids are their parents drive them in an oversized, impractical 4x4 or minivan just for that authentic touch, even if they only have one kid.

*Afterthought*

That reminds me I used to cycle to school. I know bikes aren't included but as a future add on I would love that, along with being able to convert roads into ones with cycle paths/bus lanes.

Would be well combined with a city/district policy for cycle scheme. (I'm sure this has all been mentioned before though)

In Canada, there is rule for the maximal distance between your house and the school. If you are oustide that range there is probably a school bus. Generally you don't walk more the 30 minutes.

It might be a good way to reduce the number of school you need in general.

Since there are no school hours not sure how school buses would work anyway. They really would be no different than your city buses. Perhaps if they ever implement a 24 hour cycle this could be a feature eventually.

Oh yes. Good how you brought that up. Because how would the school buses work compared to normal busses?
