Dear Paradox, I noticed after watching the WWW stream (current Japan playthrough) that the partisan effects seemed to have been removed after japan occupied huge parts of china. Isn't that pretty unrealistic? You should really think about a partisan DLC which implements in depth mechanics about partisans and intel.

I agree, i remember Daniel saying something about there being no reason not to annex the whole thing. and about Germany being able to annex the whole of Russia up to Vladivostok when in reality, they only planned to take up to the Astrakhan-Arkhangelsk line and even that would be a bit much to administer in my opinion.

I agree, even if a country is fully annexed there should still be some resistance movements active, specially if they have some foreign support.

Also I expect the ability to increase partisan activity by sending equipment will be added in a DLC/Patch at some point after the game is released (quite frankly, is odd that this is not already in the game)

While I completely agree I think because they cut the entire espionage system a while back due to feature creep I have a feeling we will see an entire Espionage, Partisan, and Recon DLC or patch after release. It's the same thing in HOI3 where if the country isn't in a faction and capitulates the annexed territory is essentially considered as home territory from a partisan perspective which we all know would never happen but if they are going to do it than they will do it right.

Not only that but in HoiIII if you attempt to liberate the annexed country you will be the one facing partisans. I really hope this has been fixed in HoiIV...

They did, there are no mre partisans in HoI IV. You rather have unrest on an state level which destroys factories and lowers supply throughput and gives the enemy intel etc.

Yes I know there are no more partisans spawning in the map. But if China is annexed by Japan and the alies land there, will the Chinese population start to blow infrastructure/Factories to help the Japanese keep their country annexed? In other words should non core territory really have active resistance movements when occupied?

well, technicly it is japanese soil once annexed. Not having any resistance would be wrong aswell, since there will always be supporters and opposers to the gouverment. Some might support the japanese, let it be because of their own oppinion or due to propaganda programs. I'd say there should always be unrest growth in non-core territory, unless the territory is under your controll for a long time, similar to seperatism in EUIV.

You'll gain less IC and manpower from annexed provinces that aren't your cores, as far as I know. So there is sort of a penalty: you have more territory and victory points to defend with a relatively smaller amount of resources.

Other than that, i doubt that the chinese are nessesariely happy if the US are dropping tons of bombs on them and shoot up their cities aswell.
So the Chinese are angry that the Americans are destroying their factories and infrastructure and decide the best response is to destroy the factories and infrastructure themselves :rolleyes:

Joke aside, I see your point that the Chinese population might be divided and some might support the Japanese (like the collaborationist did in France) so I would be fine with the Americans getting some resistance as long as the Japanese got some as well.

If an occupier is getting resources from a territory then there should be partisans causing trouble. The only way to not have the partisans would be to have the territory given to its core owner upon capture.

Annexation should Cap the factories by 25-50%, reduce max avaliable and if there is more than new max destroy them, cap manpower by at least 50% and resources by 25%, infrastructure by 15%. And no partisan activity then.
