No Option to Request Great Holy War

So I'm playing as Ireland, having united the British Isles, conquered half of Iberia, A nice bit of France, all of Norway and Sweden and converted to Judaism. I conquered most of egypt all of Jerusalem, and damascus so that i could build the Third Temple and get a religious head to call great holy wars with. The first great holy war he called for Mesopotamia and now it's been over 30 years since but I can't request a great holy war? The button isn't just greyed out it's not there at all. I want to take Aquitaine because it's my largest rival & taking it out would make future crusades called against me a lot easier, plus i plan on converting into EUIV so it would help me monopolize colonization but when I go to the diplomacy screen for the king of Aquitaine there's no option for requesting a great holy war?

There's an issue with the UI that basically hides it when it's not active, so it not showing up doesn't necessarily mean much.

Has it been 30 years since the war ended?

yeah it's definitely been thirty years i know because the Kohen Gadol tried calling a great holy war for Abyssinia but I really did not want that so i reloaded an earlier save lol

I ran into some issues with Fraticelli as it turns out, sadly, I couldn't target Catholics (though I'm sure the AI did but /shrug). Might be a bug that it's not recognizing your target as a valid one though.

i just double checked and it won't let me call a Great Holy War against any ruler at all in the game--could you target non-Catholics though?

Yeah in my game I was still able to call one against Africa.

I'm curious if it's even possible to do so as a Jewish monarch now? (If not it's probably a bug which sucks )

dang antisemitism.....seriously though that might be it and if so that's so ridiculous I have to wait decades in between wars as is because taking one duchy racks up a huge amount of threat for some reason...my role-play dreams are shattered if i can't make a glorious jewish empire

I think only Catholics and maybe Fraticellis can request a Crusade, the rest are stuck with random number religious head.

I think a religious head can only ever call one great holy war in their lifetime. If this is the same Kohen Gadol that called the previous great holy war you'll probably have to wait until he dies.

Religious Heads can, and will call a GHW every 30 years. I've had a High Priest that called 2 GHWs.

Only Catholics and Fraticellis can Request a GHW/Crusade.

Jihads are called by a Secular Head. The same thing for Reformed Germanic Paganism.

The other reformed Pagan faiths, Zoroastrian, and Jewish GHWs are called according to a weighted system.

The Fraticelli/Catholic Crusades will also use a weighted system if nobody sends a Crusade request that gets accepted.

No. A religious head can call for a GHW every 30 years.

However for Germanic Pagans, if you call a GHW, win, and then die in 10 years, your next ruler can immediately call for another.

well thank you for clearing it up now I know it's not a bug it's just not something I can do, although really if they're going to let fraticelli people request it they should let everyone, aside from the ones called by secular rulers, request them

Well Fraticellis are basically identical to Catholics.

They have a College of Cardinals, Investiture, etc.

Yeah, the only functional difference is that the Frat pope is a duke instead of a king.

yeah i know they can have a pope and stuff its just that historically i don't think Fraticellis called any Crusade so if you're going to let them do it you should let all the religions do it you feel

I've always thought that it'd be neat to be able to customize your Religions features when you reform it.

that would be really cool, especially for the pagan ones since they don't have established historical mechanics, it would definitely make you feel more attached to the religion and enhance role-play, plus making the playthroughs different
