Hey guys, how it's going?
We have a lot of treats in the forum about tech trees (tanks, ships, etc.), one in common is that everyone is worried if his country is going to have a specific tech tree.
So the question comes: How the no major countries tech tree is gonna look like? Are they gonna be generic?
We know that he have some guys that are trying to show some of the projects that they country were planing to do, even if not implemented in the war.
Ok, I'm Brazilian (Hey Nigo you sexy beast), so we know that Brazil had plans for different models of tanks and stuff, but in the end it used american made ones. So how it will be done? Are the minor countries be ignored?
PS.: I know that going after every country is hard because you need to spend time on it.

For the release i think it's best to leave the nation an option to choose one of the majors tech trees as a minor. A more advanced but not historic, model can be added as a DLC later on which would actually give the sense of actually conducting a research and coming with a "new" model of tank that is original to your minor..

They are all likely to be generic (maybe with some small modifications for certain majors), and what you'll be researching is "heavy tank 1", "destroyer 4" and so on. The Major countries will just have flavor names for various models, like the T-34, the Tiger, the Churchill, and so on (which through the new system of variants is changeable by the player).

As for Brazil specifically, i cant say. What i can say is that if Paradox were to try to hunt down manufacturing companies and give every minor country their own models, we wouldn't see the game for another 2 years :)

Love the sound of "we can mod that" :D
Micro countries would be impossible to do that, I was only thinking about countries how participated in the war, but still really hardcore (because of the research to do it and because o the time needed to accomplish it).
I had that idea because I know that will be differences on the shermans vs panzers, not just names.

Everyone got exactly the same techs.
Only the name is the difference.

But then maybe the countries have access to different tech teams which will give their tech some uniqueness.

Even if you use generic tech trees, you can make variant planes and just name them what you want.

HOI being what it is, it'd surprise me a lot if tech trees were different for each nation (except for "fluff" names and images, of course, the US would produce Shermans while the Germans produced Panzers).

This is also a big opportunity for modders if the tree is indeed modable.

From what it looks like already I'm going to wager a yes. If it's anything like HOI 3, then all you need to do is compare how normal units are in the game so you could create a new "unit". Then comes adding it to the tech tree which Im not sure if it's auto set with predefined columns and rows which you can expand or GUI managed where you have to set it up yourself on how it looks. Knowing the picture sizes of all the icons would help with the quality of life so that they can be sized properly with everything else. That should be just the basics.

Not 100% sure, but AFAIK, real 3rd Reich flag is unlikely to be censored there - its already in many other WW2 games which are being sold via Steam.
