So started an Ayleid Restoration game as the Welkynd. My starting character is a journeyman mage. Very overpowered class, but also the most flavor of any class, and the most fun. Every child, every grand child, has been tutored by a mage, sometimes even sending them abroad. After 19 descendants, not a one has matured as a pure mage. I have tons of priests, battle mages, spies, ect, but not a single mage, WTF! What am I doing wrong?

Unlucky roll of the dice. Reload the same year and play it through repeatedly, and you'll get tons of different results depending completely on random chance... typically, with the cooler stuff having smaller probabilities.

Still not letting this year pass till that Necromancer trait triggers again. Get used to 2016, cause we're staying here a while :p

Then it's unlucky dice rolls coupled with no do-overs. Your best bet would be to pop out a ton of potential heirs, educate them all with magicka tutors, and hope at least one turns out right. Nothing more can be done to manipulate the outcome.

Any education can give any related education. You could go Mage -> Priest -> Nightblade, as they are all "magic" classes. It's mostly based off of what stats they give a bonus to, IIRC. Like a Knight (Warrior, but with +Diplo) could educate someone into an Agent (Thief, but with +Diplo). If I got the stats right on those traits, that is.

any strategy I can use to encrease chances of getting pure mages? I finally got one, a fumbling mage, or what ever lvl one mages are called...

Not as far as I know. You pretty much just hope for the best, or at least a purple education icon (the mage types).
