1940 - Ki-43 Hayabusa / Carrier Version - A6M2 Zero

1944 - Ki-84 "Frank" / Carrier Version - N1K2 Shiden "George"

Japanese Tactical Bombers

1933 - Ki-2 "Louise"

1936 - Ki-21 "Sally"

1940 - Ki-48 "Lilly"

1944 - Ki-74 (Never entered service, it's the only plane that possibly fits this category though) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachikawa_Ki-74

A6M2 was the variant number, A6M for the type.
N1K2 has the same problem, but, far more importantly, was completely carrier-incapable. A7M.

The bombers take an almighty leap. I suppose it's just because the tech trees are so screwed up that it's necessary to cut out the main planes actually used (sigh).

Fixed. The naval and medium bombers are severally messed up. I can only hope that the Devs bother to look at this comment thread.

Secondly, there is no A6M2 Zero? That being said, someone alleged to the fact that if you make the Carrier Variant of the Ki-43 Hayabusa, it will be the A6M2 Zero?

We've seen however that "Variants" don't much seem to change anything but some stats. So we WILL have an A6M2, it will just be a Ki-43 Hayabuse on a carrier?

SADFACE.

From what I understand after reading all DDs and watching WWW there seem to be two kind of variants in HoI4. ( A bit confusing to call them the same thing really ).

The first kind is actually more of a sub-unit, used for things like self propelled artillery or tank destroyer versions of a tank, and carrier capable versions of fighters & bombers.
These seem to have unique names, and can differentiate quite alot in stats from the base units.

The second are variants you can upgrade through spending XP where you can make some smaller modifications and also if you want manually give the units a Unique name or just call them Mk2 for example.

So maybe you are confusing these two?

I do hope that there will be nice pictures for at least some of the more iconic and important sub-units / versions like the famous Japanese and US Carrier planes or some famous tank destroyers on the east front, but we haven't seen any yet (that I know of) so only Paradox can answer how this will be done.
Maybe this will be in DLCs ( so if you really like the Pacific war you can buy for example the Carrier Plane DLC with all the art and models for a few bucks )?
