I like achievements. I like that they give me incentive to play countries or in ways I wouldn't necessarily thought about. I like to have to plan around them to get hem fair and square. And I feel satisfaction when I unlock them.
Now, I have been on a long achievement hunt on Stellaris, which means hundered of hours of Ironman unmodded games and as much pain and suffering, throwing games because I clicked too fast and selected the wrong thing or lost attention for a bit in the middle of a numbing game. Being condemned to play max size/max fallen empires only in the hope I'll finally see a war in heaven. To play marathon games at lower speed to keep everything under control. Not daring to take an option or a move because while it looks fun, I'm unsure what the consequences will be. I have countless examples. And worst, seeing every one else having fun with mods that improve the AI and make the game more exciting, but being barred from them if I want my precious achievements.
So yeah, when I realized V3 achievements where not tied to ironman and mods were allowed, I may have cried of relief a little.
