Yes. Native Americans can't build navies.

EDIT: Though this ban can be lifted at some point.

The Incas got to the polinesian islands, as well as Eastenr Island.

They got beat by Spanish that had experience in this type of warfare from the Caribbean to Mexico, through central America, and had fought their way down to the Incas. By this time, they knew exactly what to do and how to do it.

When you see the problems the Spanish faced in Puerto Rico, Florida, Cuba or Mexico and you see their success in Peru, it's almost 180 degrees in change. They took the strongest empire in America in a couple of events. No major fighting, no major anything. It was like surgery.

Either ways, the Incas were very advanced, and had primitive forms of writing, an actual eocnomy, shops, etc. It also had a navy, but nothing in comparison to European navies. Something, maybe, in better comparison to early Greek navies. Just rag-tag boats with dudes inside ready to pounce.

When Spaniards began to explore and colonize island western of South America, they used very ritch experiences and "mindmaps" from local population.

So, you are not racist, not historical accurate. You are just ignorant without informations:p

I have not studied to find out if Inca had ships, but them must have. they had a wide ranging road network and they most likely had discovered the muisca and Tairona, who were probably traders with the Carib and Taino peoples of the carribean, who DID have canoes and such.

Lets face it, the Incas had the materials, the smarts, and the ability to make canoes, and probably could have found somebody to help them make one if they wanted to. Most likely there was lots of canoes for every local tribe.

There is no reason to emulate canoes in the game. They are just not going to be any match for any other ship in the game. The carribeans can be made into a serious of straights, lIke what I did for Terra Nova mod. The only other reason to allow canoes is for exploration and colonization, but lets face it, niether one of those were very important to the natives and even it if was, what good is it going to do? there was natives on most islands....already. There isnt even cargo space to be a very profitable trade expedition. Technology trade would be extremely limited because the tribes they would find would be less technological than themselves.

one thing that is completely overlooked and will continue to be overlooked (but most of the world is ignorant, and will believe what is in the 'history' books no matter what), is the influence that the chinese treasure fleets had on the world, around 1421-1424. Those fleets sailed all around the world leaving some men behind and probably picking up some tribal people. This topic is much more important that the tribes themselves having canoes or not. The chinese visit may even have been what triggered the Incan expansion from macchu piccu before the 1430's. I am not saying it was, i am saying it could be what helped to trigger the expansion. Maybe the entire reason why the Incas trusted the spanish was because the Chinese treated the Incas well. The Incas had no reason to believe that the Spanish would be a treacherous, greedy, murderous, group of people (in general, back then, not all of them were this way of course, tbe the national agenda was this way).

it just so happens that in 1428, the balance of power was shifted and the begginnings of the aztec empire emerged in central america. is this really a coincidence the the starting of two native empires happened around the same time? regional information (maps) and information about army sizes of other tribes, as well as the new communication with other tribes due to every tribe wanting to see the foriegners with great ships and new previously unseen goods, was the most likely reason for thes alliances and wars IMO.

so, what is my point?
my point is that EU3 vanilla is a EUROPE game, it is pretty much only historically accurate there.
If people want to play EU3 where the whole world is more accurate and unbiased, then try a mod like TN.

It had nothing that really justifies an EU navy, in other words...until they get some Naval tech.

I like TN a lot. Bud saying, that china colonized world and started Incas and Aztecs expansion fantasy like 2012 end of world.. Totally unhistorical and swiming on modern wave of New Age.

Effectivness of naval seafight is true, native ship would stand no chance against ship with Cannons. But they could build large rafts for a lot of people. I should look at books, but if I remember correctly, there was naval invasion between Andean civilization one times.

I am glad you like TN mod. Worry not, there is no colony or exploration events for my Chinese exploration beliefs in TN mod yet. there may eventualy though, but it will have to be well thought out and i will have to discuss more with others and research more.

let me clarify. No chinese colonies lasted until modern times. I am saying there was chinese influence, thats it. Yes there was colonies but they integrated with tribes or migrated or got whiped out. Yes, I am saying it chinese expeditions had a influence (and not the sole reason it happened) in the Aztec and Incan expansions, but thats just my opinion. Its nothing about new age stuff. Its about history.

even if native built large troop carrying rafts, what good is it going to do? what would be the motive? to go invade hawaii? not likely. the Incas, for example, coule use thier road network to invade tribes much easier in the new world. there was most likely no motive for them to make big ships. If the Incas would have held thier empire longer, I bet they would have made big ships to explore, but the spanish destroyed the Inca empire in its early stages, and this is only because of the Inca civil war, and the Trust that Incas had for europeans (because the Chinese set the precedence).

they can if they research naval tech 1 for cogs , 2 or 3 for carracks
Unless it has changed in HttT (which is possible), they must have the tech level AND the tech group to build ships. Tech groups with a speed modifier less than 0.4 can't build ships regardless of tech level.
