Hi, I'm playing a game as the pratiharas and have one legitimate son. However, after him being my heir for a good 11 years it suddenly pops up that I don't have a legitimate heir to my dynasty. He's still alive though, so I think this may be a bug...

EDIT: As Talq has kindly informed me, I need to add some more information. I can't see a way to edit the title, but the patch number is 2.3.4. FMNO

I have every DLC running apart from Sunset Invasion, and the only ones I don't have installed are a couple of the unit packs. I am not using any mods. I am running it on ironman. The link to the savegame is just here https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlpkxcce8bjd25v/Ironman_Pratihara.ck2?dl=0

I've included some screenshots:
2015-04-12_00001.jpg

2015-04-12_00003.jpg

As you can see, my current ruler only has one legitimate male child, who is currently king of the kingdom to the south of mine (I pushed his mothers claim and she later died - the problem started when she was still alive though). Despite this, it shows there being no legitimate heir and my throne is set to be inherited by a bastard of mine in a different dynasty.

Update: it keeps switching between him being my heir and there being no heir to the dynasty (which is also odd as I have other male cousins etc of my dynasty)

Please read the stickies, especially this post (especially note points 1, 5, 6, especially the desirablility of the later)

In order to help us in QA, and the Dev Team when writing a bug report, I'm providing you all with guidelines on how to write a "proper" bug report (might be useful to both veterans & newcomers on the forums).
This is to make a bug report more structured, and easy to read which in the end will help us to quicker reproduce the bug, and therefore hand in the correct information faster to the
Dev Team so that they can fix it. I'll start with writing what a bug report should contain, and follow it up with an example to make things more clear.

What a bug report should contain:

1. Thread Title: Should always include the [version number] & [checksum] of the game and contain a brief description of the issue. If not, see this http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...r-version-number-in-the-topic-will-be-deleted!
2. Description: Describe the bug/issue in more detail - What occured and what you did in order to make the issue appear. //If you are using an old save after a new patch is released, please do let us know.
3. DLC Information: If you have any dlc's, unit packs etc, please state them here.
4. Mods: If you are using any mods, please state them here.
5. Reproduction Steps: If you are able to reproduce the bug, please write down steps needed to be done in order to achieve the desired result.
6. Attach if possible any screenshot of the issue, and/or a save of said game. //If you are having issues concerning Successions or CTD's try to always provide a save game

Note that it is understandable that not all the bug reports are able to look like this, as there can arise occasions where it's hard to say what happened in order for the bug to occur. If that is the case simply try to provide with as much information as possible. I hope this will help you out as much as it will help us here in the office if used.

Best Regards,
Mr. Nibbles
Your QA Overlord & Drinker of Tears

Unless QA happens to know of similar bug reports, there's virtually no hope of them replicating that, which means it can't be identified.

Thanks for your help so far. I've done everything I can other than change the title (I couldn't work out how but the patch and checksum are in the post) and provide a save game - I tried but it wouldn't let me attach it to the post. Is there a specific way to attach save games? Just trying to attach the file itself brings up the error: The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension. And when I attach it as a compressed zip file it just says There was a problem uploading your file.

Question; did you legitimize your bastard son AFTER he married and had kids? If that's the case, then this situation might make sense.

There is no bug in the game the older brother is legimate bastard and not of your dynasty. You either accidentally agreed make him legitimate or something happened that made him legitimate (don't know what that would be), but clearly the inheritance is working as designed.

If the heir is rapidly switching between the two, then no, it is not WAD.

I ran his save and didn't see that behavior at all. Still his main argument that he has his own dynasty members left doesn't matter as his heir is his oldest child who is not from his dynasty and is legitimate bastard. The game is corrently assigning the titles to go to him. Still he could specify that rapid switching comment he made. Don't know who he is refering when he says "him" for example does he mean the bastard or the third son?

The switching isn't rapid - it happens every 5 years or so. And I haven't legitimised any bastards - my current heir to my titles is an unlegitimised bastard who shouldn't be set to inherit anything. Before this, it was toggling between my dynastic son and his dead older brothers son - I killed the dead older brothers son in the hope that that would solve the problem but it just made it worse :/
