This has happened to me a couple of times. Just now, I have some naval bombers returning from a mission, and when I click on another target it says "No Game Found" in the combat support window.
I know I probably can't divert them to attack anyway, but I just thought it was a bit odd. The other time wasn't with aircraft, it was with some ground units.
