You have to wait until the game comes out and read the manual. No more questions answered until the game is out I'm afraid...

Understandable with the Pirate issue, we'll all just have to wait and see I guess.

Cheers, Ice

Hmm, what a devilishly clever way of getting information about the game. Start a thread complaining about such-and-such a feature NOT being in the game and, with luck, one of the Gods-From-On-High will tell you that it IS in the game.

Example:

Devilishly Clever Person: "I think it's a darn shame that the US Civil War is not included in the game"

GFOH: "But the Civil War is very much included"

DCP: Bwahahahaha!
:D

I'm sorry, "the pirate issue" is a poor answer. Besides, I don't see what a question about diplomatic options within the game has to do with piracy.

I could tell you that Half Life 2 allowed 32 players in one game and it would neither help nor hinder piracy.

In effect, I neither see nor understand what one has to do with the other.

Hi Brannart,
Thre is a Pirate issue with Victoria at the moment see this thread and I was assuming Patric didn't want too many questions answered until Victoria was actually out and everyone, who had a "real" copy of the game, could get the answers from the much improved (over HoI) manual....there by denying the people without legitamate copies from getting the anwers on how to play the game.

I could be wrong of course as this was an assumption from what had been written by Patric.

Cheers, Ice

But someone who has either the original or the copy could find out the answer by themselves. The original question was just a simple question from a curious fan. I don't see the realtionship with the piracy. Maybe it has another reason.

Maybe the option to Diploannex is only shown when certain conditions are met. Telling a SW pirate it is possible might help them play the game. This is a complex game, I could imagine someone having a playable copy still having lots of questions about how to play, and I agree that they shouldn't be helping them.

I'm aware of the piracy problem, thanks.

Look at the original question.

Is it true there is no way to Diploannex countries in Victoria? Not even your satellites?

Unless I am mistaken and diplomatic annexation is a prohibitively difficult endeavor someone who has the game already (i.e. a pirated copy) would know the answer to this question. Thus keeping it hush hush because of piracy makes no sense.

So thanks, but I'll wait for an official answer to my seemingly troubling "why" question.

Right! After the game come out no one here should talk about the game in case it helps pirates! We can use the forum for other things aside from talking about the game like...umm...cake recipies! :D

No, the game just needs to ship with a decoder ring and we will then talk in code on the forums. ;)

Although I wouldn't mind a good cake recipe..... :D

I can understand the logic behind this in the sense that the game isn't out yet, but refusal to answer a simple question about the game because of fears of pirates will negate the purpose for this forum. Who cares if a few pirates gain some more understanding at this point. Within a month at most the game will be in our hands and these questions will be asked. What will be the answer then: 'sorry, we can't answer because of pirates'? Despite a few buggers getting a pre-release warez version I can't see any real harm coming from it. You average quake-head won't even look at this game let alone play it, the calibre of player a game like vicky demands pratically guarantees people will shell out the money.
