Because releasing a filler piece about someone we knew nothing about while there were several gamebreaking bugs sitting there with no communication about was not exactly the smartest move.

Filler shouldn't be tagged as a dev diary, maybe a different tag.
It is pretty easy to assume that if a bug isn't fixed, it is because they haven't been able to fix it. That doesn't mean the rest of the team shouldn't post something to hold us over until they have a diary of more sustenance.

As others have said, they have no obligation to pump Dev diaries.

They have no obligation, but it's nice to say that this or that is going to be fixed soon or later this year. Because guess what, most people that look for dev diary are not for "abuse" but for hope, that the game will be better than sad state that it is right now.

I hope it's just that the devs are working really hard to fix bugs right now so they don't take the time to write a diary. But I wouldn't bet on it. It might be the opposite - that they're getting complacent and not focusing on Stellaris as much as they should because they feel like they're "done" with that for now after the big update. Which would be terrible considering the state the game is in.

I see exactly no reason to assume the latter, Wiz has explicitly said they're currently focused on bug fixes and once that's done they'll majorly focus on the AI.

Stop feeling entitled to weekly Dev Diaries just because it has become a habit.

They've done dev diaries since the start of stellaris. Sure we expect it, it's fun, it's informative and above all it's a way for us, the consumers, to engage with the developers and the other way around. People just want to know if/when there will be another opportunity in the forum of a dev blog to do so. We like stellaris, so we eagerly anticipate these interactions. There's no reason for you to completely break down people's expectations and excitement for dev blogs.

A lot of things that companies and developers do for their fans and customers aren't needed, but are done so regardless. So get off your high-horse and stop brown-nosing the company you give money to. They're not your friend.

To be fair it is Paradox's position that they aim post dev dairies every week, they are rather punctual and we haven't being told they'll laid down new dev dairies during post release support period. Since we get a heads up if something just went wrong, something must be horribly went wrong

Lmao did you even read the thread?

Looking at Wiz's twitter feed, it's obvious what happened. The Devs got over confident and created a system with four stars.

Silly child species, messing with things they do not comprehend.

Despite the danger to trigger a shitstorm:

The issue isn't the lack of a dev diary, its the lack of someone saying there wont be one. I don't think anyone's acting entitled over it. It abnormal not to say and it would take a whole 5 seconds to do.

DD's are a bonus, its not anything anyone at Paradox are forced to do. It's a nice gift to Paradox fans. Maybe after the entitled crowed last week complained so much, they decided to just skip one. Good news, Bad news, positive, negative, Paradox dev's always show up and do a DD, and that's gotta get a little burdensome, especially when people gripe at you. Maybe this will make people more appreciative.

The post literally above yours addressed that, the problem is not the lack of a DD. That obviously is not something they owe us, the problem is that there's no word on why there's no DD and why they're breaking precedent like this.

Obviously Paradox not making a DD for whatever reason is hardly some atrocity but I don't think people are being entitled by wondering what's going on.
