I've tried created a custom ruler with ironman mode enabled but once the game starts the character defaults back to the original person.

So say trying to create a new Doge Testguy of Amalfi with ironman mode enabled leads me to end up playing the Doge Marinos of Amalfi.

with custom overpowered ruler you could cheat in ironmode and get all achievments in one day
This brings about the attitude that have me hate achievements. It is not cheating. Cheating would imply going outside the rules intended. If customization was allowed in iron man it would be a viable option with in the system.

Right now its not. A request to make it an option is not cheating.

Also on a side note it should not mater how other people play the game they buy its not like you get some prize for unlocking every achievement in the game.

With SAM you wouldn't even need to bother playing.

That isn't the point though, I'd just like to be able to play Ironman mode as well as having an Islamic irish duke start, or whatever.

Sorry, that ain't gonna happen. The whole point is a comparison of how we can do from the same general starting options. You can easily minmax a character in the designer, negating much of the challenge.

We will take another look at that possibility.

Or perhaps a limited version of the ruler designer can be applied?
Where you can customize the character, but where, say, you only have 30 years instead of 50, and where the only religions/cultures you can select is that character's original one and unplayable.
For example, if you select a courtier in Ireland, you can pick the religions: Catholic, Pagan, Hellenic. And the cultures: Irish, Roman, (Two unmemorized Israelite ones)

That allows you to play as the normally unplayable religions/cultures in Ironman, it allows you to customize your character, but it prevents you from abusing the feature to cheat the achievements.

Well, as i said in a thread on Steam aswell.

Alternately they could just limit what traits you -can- take and sort it out quite easily. Heck, they can even make it so your created ruler has the original traits of the Original ruler you take over. You just change the gender/appearance/Dynasty/shield.

This would solve the very essence of ''Abusing the Ruler designer'' ( I've no clue how people can do that. o_O ) Keep you to a character of your liking, and still let you get achievements..

I, personally, would prefer this, as i don't much care for traits. Traits is something i get through my actions in game. Not something i allot in the ruler design. I bought the ruler design to -create- a ruler and dynasty i liked. Not to abuse and pack full of traits.

The whole purchase of ruler design for me was that i could, indeed, design my ruler. 'Tis not fun playing as a pre-made ruler face/Dynasty due to all the time i spend looking for a nice ruler/dynasty mark.. And i would like to hunt for achievements with a nice enough leader..

So another possibility for it. Disable the third page on the ruler design during Ironman and just let us change leader and dynsaty and name. ( Granted Dynasty and name is on the last page but it could always be unblocked. )

They can remove all stats completely from the attribute tab for all i care about. I want to be able to customize the looks and the name of my ruler in Ironman Mode while i'm still getting achievements.

It is not much fun playing with a pre-made ruler.

^This. I do not want to create a superhuman character. But I want to choose a coat of arms, name and visual appearance of my character.

+1... While I don't really care about achievements I wouldn't mind getting them either while playing, because some of them take quite many hours of playing to get and if I'm going to use my time to get from 867 to 1453 I would like to get that achievement. I think I will wait for a while longer before trying out sons of abraham even though I already bought it few days ago just in case they will change this.

We will take another look at that possibility.

If you set up the ruler designer to be something like the race designer in MOO 2 where there is a hard limit on how powerful the noble can be I don't see why it would be a big problem. Obviously if it is a free for all, make it as strong as you want scenario it's a different story.

Not yet relevant to me though as I have neither the ruler designer DLC nor do I play the steam version of the game since my DLCs are all tied to my GG key.
