The Man From Carcosa
”On the Decade of Blood, Part II”, part Seven of the Secret History of the World series, authored by Father Giovanni, Miskatonic University Press, First Print on Seventh of July, Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven.
With the first blow against the Valencians having been indirectly dealt, the
Thing-That-Gnaws-At-Reality Republic of Aquitaine turned to honor the second part of its dealings within Iberia...
The Old Crone of Badajoz had bartered with the Pope and secured a strong claim on Toledo, allowing her to push war upon the Valencians.
The Republic would render aid in rectifying the de facto state of the matter, as it would weaken the Valencians for the eventual coup de grâce.
While the War was not as easy as mopping up some Rebel Remnants, the Republics coffers are deep and its troop counts high.
The Fall of Toledo, was inevitable, as Valencians were isolated diplomatically, having turned on their fellow Iberians and could not garner interest from others inside the Holy Roman Empire.
Thus it was that
The-Hungering-Maw-That-Is Hastur The Third, known as ‘the Wise’ would fulfill
Its His bargains and be finally free to
consume liberate Barcelona from Valencian oppression.
As Valencia had spent near all of their power in the War for Toledo, the Reclaiming of Barcelona was a quiet affair, in terms of battles.
Little to no resistance was offered by the Valencians, as Loyal Republican Troops occupied country-side castle, after country-side castle.
Eventually, the Valencians were forced to concede defeat and cede the stolen Gem of Aquitaine, back to the Republic.
It was a
Mind-Rendingly-Terrible Glorious Affair, the Triumph at Barcelona.
The streets
ran red with the blood of the defenders were filled with the jubilating populous, as they
trembled in fear cheered when
That-Which-Breaks-The-World Hastur the Third himself rode into the city, at the head of an entire legion of
Horrors-Beyond-Reality Republican Pike.
While small scale-warring occured well into the future, it can be said that the loss of Barcelona would be the beginning of the true end of Valencia.
It would flail in its death throes for years to come, but it would never again rise to threaten the plans of
Bringer-of-Hope-And-Despair Republican Doges of Aquitaine.
July Seventh, Anno Domini, Eight Hundred and Seventy Seven.
The House Von Einzbern.
A mere group of mortals, united in familial bonds.
They would barter with the House of Carcosa for the destruction of their neighbours.
The Nibelungs of Saxony.
Who in the past were worshipers of yet another powerless pagan god and had attacked the Von Einzbern ancestral lands.
Only thanks to the interceding of the Holy Roman Emperor, were the heathen menaces stopped and Thüringen returned to Von Einzberns.
Yet Gottfried Von Einzbern had a long memory. He remembered the butchery perpetrated by the Nibelungs and plotted revenge.
Vengeance would be His.
With the aid of
That-Which-Lies-Beyond-The-Outer-Gates Republic of Aquitaine, whose professional soldiers could guarantee the defeat of the martial-minded Nibelungs, no matter the price.
Ten Cohorts, an entire Legion of Republican Pike would be sent to slaughter Saxons in Saxony, all in the name of profit.
The Saxon defeat was a foregone conclusion.
Little is known of what the price for such aid was.
At least House Von Einzbern has never disclosed it.
Last, but not least, House of Carcosa, after years of dominating the Republican Politics, enacted legislation to honor first of their House, with the Republic being renamed from Aquitaine to Carcosa and it's Coat of Arms...
altered to a more fitting standard.
