Unless something has changed since December, or CEO Mariina Hallikainen misspoke/was misunderstood, the million limit should just be residents and tourists. That's the way I read her statement from a previous interview, anyway.

RPS: So we followed Anna around. You believe you’ll be okay tracking a million people like that, from homes to jobs to other places, around the city? You can quite happily have a million different people moving about?

Hallikainen: Well, they aren’t all walking about at the same time. Some will be at their work. Some will be in their houses. There will be a million people possible, though to be honest that’s both tourists and citizens, not all of them are residents. Yes, you can have a million people in your city, you just can’t see them all on screen simultaneously.

RPS: But they still exist.

Hallikainen: Oh yes, it’s just about rendering and the technical limitations. That’s also the hard limit. There will not be a million and one.

Well, my pop has dropped to 365k, unemployment 17%, and reduced half my traffic and imports/exports.

But now my CPU runs 75%-90% instead of the usual 40%-60%. Must be all of that free traffic that is moving instead of disappearing. lol

I may have to OC my CPU. My motherboard (Asus Maximums VII Hero) already has all of my turbo cores forced on at 4.4GHz. Maybe my H100 water cooler will get me to 5GHz. I may need it after freeing up the rest of my traffic.

I'm finding that maybe generic industry only is best. My city usually runs fine until I run out of resources and then I get demand for imports. Then my traffic gets worse. Since resources don't last long, it may be easier to have no industry specialization so you don't get sudden demands all over the place. Or use the never ending resource mod.

@Zalym, Maybe this is why we have no tourists in the game? Tourists must be putting a large load on everything. especially with the 25-tile unlock, not to mention the new 81-tile unlock.
