Since I sided with the Disfavored, my fatebinder has shown himself ready to betray them at the most ridiculous of times but now that I reach a point where they are doing something entirely inexcusable, and out of character with his previous decisions, he goes right along with the plan, offering nothing more than weak dissagreement.

Whats more, thanks to an enemy attack, I wouldn't even have to betray the alliance, not formally at least.

"Oh drat. the crystals must have been damaged in the fight causing the effect to be minuscule"

or if I wanted to make sure no one saw that I damaged them.

"Sorry Ashe, the Chorus got to the camp before I returned. This blood on my shirt? Oh, we ran into some beastwomen on the way back."

My reaction would be different if this was something I had put into motion and couldn't stop by the time I knew what was happening. As is, it seems forced and lazy for a game that is all about choices. I was so put out that I had to put the game down afterward and even now that Ive continued, I don't have the same enthusiasm as before.

If expansion packs are coming, consider a bit of work on rough spots like this.
