I've been HRE for about 20 years and all was functioning normally when suddenly I noticed that I was no longer being asked to defend member states. Is this a known bug? Restart does not help. Anybodyt have any ideas on a fix? Oh, this is HTTT.

No problem, I found out when Burgundy declared war on Lorraine with the "Claim Throne" CB and I as Emperor wasn't called.
So which CBs dont call the emperor? I would expect throne and reconquest and maybe the heretic unam sanctum thing. And does the emperor not get called only if the main warring parties are both in HRE, or if defender, or all parties, or alliance leaders?
If they end up annexing a state within the HRE though, you should automatically get the "Imperial Liberation" CB on them. This is fantastic when the attacker is, say, France and you can demand it to release a dozen HRE states upon victory, skyrocketing your authority 
Excommunication is one I know for sure doesn't call him. I don't believe he gets called for dishonorable scum wars either.
you don't get asked when they fight themselves
and you don't when they support a non-hre ally
and you don't when they support a non-hre ally
The Emp is not called for wars between HRE members with a valid CB. Any CB. You can pass a reform to prevent this. He gets called for any non-HRE nations attacking a HRE nation, CB or not.
