So, I was happily playing the EU4 demo, when suddenly, much to my horror, I noticed this:



Has anyone else noticed borders like this in their game? If so, I really hope this isn't how it's going to be when the game is released.

I support this image. Your AI has a mind after my own heart.... instead of trying to bring the Swede back under your heel, take the opportunity to gut his manpower and taxbase. Then bring him under your heel.

Edit: And presumably Denmark anticipates a Norwegian inheritance, then the borders shall be contiguous.

Agreed! All of Sweden should quickly change to the positive and happy colour of red!

But yah I have seen something similary a strong Norway-Denmark pressi g from the west will moscovy comes from the east.

Bah, the point of this isn't Denmark beating Sweden, such a thing is obviously extremely delightful.

No, the point is the provinces they're taking from them, messing up what could've been beautiful borders.

I'm sure the Swedish AI had a hand in that. However, it's just an excuse to hit them again later; which incidentally is the best kind of excuse.

The AI should now sell landlocked, unconnected provinces if it's given them in a peace deal and will refuse them if they're offered in a peace deal. It looks like a failed Swedish independence war, where Denmark was able to extort a couple of provinces. The AI may not consider provinces surrounded by countries in a personal union with it (or perhaps with military access) as unconnected.

Pretty sure the AI is supposed to favour provinces it can reach - which it can, provided that Norway is still their Union member.

Well you need to border a province to produce a claim of it so the AI seems pretty good at planning ahead getting borders at more provinces for more claims in the next war. Good job Denmark.

Not that it ever stopped my vassals from carving out their own stupidly-shaped empires... And then me waging war on them to force their borders to be nicer.

I think this is it. Denmark considers Norway as part of it's borders, so both provinces are connected to Denmark via Norway.

Seems like a fair conquest. the bit in the middle is on border with both sweden and norway, and norrland{?} has a great coast up a sea they had no hand in before

How refreshing to see. In my demo games, Sweden kept beating Denmark-Norway around horribly. I was beginning to suspect the SWE tag to be hardcoded with hidden modifiers.
