Hi all,

Recently got the Armageddon Booster pack after finally completing a HOI2 1936 game as Germany. Hooray!


So far however I’m not impressed by the booster pack. There are too few countries, no puppets or smaller nations, the countries they do have awful looking flags (had to change the flags manually myself), they all are at war (Armageddon) or quickly go to war (Abyss). And they are all just carbon copies of each other as all have same starting tech, and are either Stalinist/National Socialist/Market Liberal.


I was hoping to find scenarios and/or mods for Armageddon, but surprised to see none. I'm also surprised to see little to no mention of it on the forum, or on the HOI2 Wiki. It’s almost like it wasn’t' received well, and everyone’s just gone back to playing regular HOI2, forgetting it ever happened

I was then considering modding my own Abyss game using the in-game editor, but quickly got bamboozled by the whole experience and think it’s beyond my limited skills. Hell, I can’t even find the Abyss .eug scenerio file in the directory to mod it!!

Sadly I also can’t find an easy 'Idiots Guide' to using the editor. Basically what i'd like to be able to create some countries, give them pre-existing treaties/relations, and pre-allocate techs/doctrines to give each nation a different flavour.


My main questions are:

1) Are there any custom made mods/scenarios for Armageddon. If so, where are they? And are they any good?

2) I read, sadly after I got the booster pack, on Wikipedia that:

“The purpose of the scenarios is to provide relatively equal nations to choose from for multiplayer games”

Does this mean the booster pack scenarios aren’t designed for standard single player use? Is the AI really poor in Armageddon as a result? Also, I assume there are no coded ‘Events’ in either Abyss or Armageddon if it is with multiplayer in mind?


3) Any 'Idiots guides' to creating scenarios? Basically creating countries and assigning tech is what i'd like to do. I'd base the countries on existing ones. i.e. create Gran Columbia from 1936 standard games Columbia, etc. I'd worry about complex things like adding events later....

4) Are there any user-made Map Editors that are easier to use than the official version? Ideally I’d like a simple click interface where you can click on a map and assign countries, almost by ‘painting them’.


5) Why is there no real mention of Armageddon on the forums, was it received badly by the fan community?

Its a shame. I think if Paradox had put a bit more effort into the new scenerios it would have been really interesting. Instead at the moment, to me, they've create a rather empty and souless shell, purely designed for those who play Multiplayer.

I have not yet tried any of those, but I have read that they are good.

2) Boosterpack scenarios are mainly designed for multiplayer so there are no added events for them. And if you want better AI for Armegeddon then you could try DAIM

Reading around your mod though, I assume this adds the Confederates into the 1936 campaign, and doesnt add any other nations that feature in Armaggedon (European Soviets, Bourbon Kingdom, Australasia, etc)?

I am however very happy your mod uses the GIP! I really can't play without that.

Shame, just as I thought. I dont play Multiplayer.

Again, my question wasn't accurate. Was refering to AI in the Armaggedon scenerio, not Standard campaign (which DAIM seems to tackle).

Doomsday scenario = 0_1945.eug
The Abyss scenario = 0_Pre_Global_war.eug
Armageddon scenario = 0_Global_war.eug

Also, you really don`t want to use standard editor for editing. It appearently can mess up your files. Use Notepad instead.

Correct, it's just the CSA added in CA.

And while I may be talking myself out of a download:), CA doesn't incorporate the GIP mod. There's no reason you can't use GIP with CA, of course, but I wanted to make the CA/GIP relationship clear.
