Will do. Those options will fire if the player chooses to liberate Ukraine and Belarus, but not the Baltic. There will be a further choice, "steadfastly integrate the Baltic," which will result in the uprising.

I'm starting to have doubts about every country in Europe being in the Axis. Reason is, I'd like to make some events about Italy proclaiming the Second Roman Empire and attempting to expand into France and Spain. Likewise, an Italo-Croatian War for the Adriatic littoral would be in order. I know these warring countries could just leave the Axis once they attack each other, but what would be the point of the Axis, then? Then again, I could just have them join the Axis again once their wars are over...

That sounds reasonable. After all, the mentality of Axis is based on dictatorial foreign policy. And dictatorships aren't really known for having predictable and stable foreign policy. It's more of "if it suits our needs, we'll have an alliance. If it doesn't, well.. goodbye.". So, if the war goes global - Allies/Commies vs Germany, then Italy should go into alliance. Otherwise, just guaranteeing each other would be enough (unless that interferes with some local wars events).

Gukpa, that percentage sounds ok.

Yeah, independence guarantees sound good enough. Perhaps I could keep a core of a few countries in the Axis, maybe Germany and Russia, since Germany relies on Russia's assistance in guarding Europe's frontier. If this is alright with Z...

Heh, Russia in the Axis... a Wehrmacht trooper in the outskirts of Moscow in winter of '41 would barely even conceive of it. :D

I remember playing the AoD version of this mod. It was pretty cool but it lacked alot of things in my opinion. I'm sure this will work alot better in DH and I'm eagerly waiting for the mod to be released :)

I like the division within the Axis, and the Phoenix Roman Empire too. You guys have put some good stuff not to make Axis a monolithic structure. (and I want the same to Comintern and C-Pact) But I'm sceptical of committing aggression to France and Croatia without facing the wrath of Germany. It's a very one-side game if it comes to a GER V ITA war.

To get around this problem, there must be a major distraction for Germany to have her hegemony put under the pressure. A market crash sounds so cliché, Kaiserreich and Fatherland already done it (on the latter, Germany avoided it narrowly). Though, I don't mind using this as a last resort option.

EDIT: Maybe a massive faction infighting in Germany to give Axis countries some breathing space to fight and expand?

I don't mind whether Russia is in the alliance or not. For as long as it fits in the game's storyline. And we can always break and make alliance via event if we need to be flexible anyway.

Well, the Italo-Croatian War would be about Croatian aggression on Italy to get back the Croatian coasts. But yeah, Italian aggression would certainly prompt a response from Germany.

Good idea, but I fear German crises would trigger the expected Soviet Union-Axis war. The Reds wouldn't stand aside while Germany is engulfed in civil war. And I'm not too excited to start such a big war so soon.

We could still have the German crisis, maybe even with a civil war, but for plausibility's sake Russia needs to really start to build up its military to balance the USSR's military strength and Germany's infighting. An event, Germany demanding that Russia start increased mobilization (kind of weird since Russia would be more powerful, thus more likely to challenge Germany, but meh) could be done.

Also, wouldn't it be better if we found ourselves a separate forum, just for discussing 1964's DH mod? I've seen the old forum, but it doesn't look like it's active anymore. Just a thought.

Changes in the design for the new techtrees:

I'll be conservative on this and keep the DH format. The changes will be stated below:

Infantry
  • INF = (Motorised) Infantry
  • MOT = Mechanised Infantry (the ones with APCs)
  • MEC = Armoured Infantry (equipped with IFVs)
  • MIL = Third-world Infantry

I believe by this time, every first-world army are developed enough to provide their foot soldiers some vehicles, and no longer travels on foot.

Armour
  • L-ARM = Recon Vehicle (separate tree from ARM)
  • H-ARM = REMOVE
  • ARM = MBT

Naval
  • CL = Corvettes
  • CA = Frigates
  • CA = REMOVE
  • BC = Missile Cruisers
  • BB = REMOVE???
  • CVL = Commando Carrier
  • H-SUB = Nuclear Submarine

Going MDS2 on this one. What do you think of Hunter-killer submarines?

Air
  • Esc F = Merge with FTR
  • FTR = Merge with Esc F

Just merge them. They're pretty much the same thing.

Also, wouldn't it be better if we found ourselves a separate forum, just for discussing 1964's DH mod? I've seen the old forum, but it doesn't look like it's active anymore. Just a thought.

Yes, I imagine infantry by 1964 would be mostly motorized and mechanized, even political militias like the Falangists.

There's also the issue of unit pics. And we also need to divide the unit models from 1964 to 2020.

I think I'm going to go back to making the minister files after I finish a couple more events. Ministers are a priority and we need to get them done, at least for the major nations. I also think we need some more help from users willing to assist us in this regard, as the number of nations that need to be covered is huge.

Perhaps use some of the neo-nazis parties staff of OTL Germany? Like NPD and Holger Apfel for the 2005+ time frame. For the 1964-2000 timeframe, members of the Deutsche Reichspartei (DRP) and Gesamtdeutsche Partei (GDP)? They are not exactly nazis but all I can think of ^^

Belarus is..well, its both, it has aspects of right wing and of left wing dictatorship. Its ideology is based on soviet nostalgia, but its economic model is similar to fascist dictatorships.

The question of Rudolf Hess is actually rather interesting in this mod, I'd say. Did the Brits release him after ww2 for him to return to Germany and continue his political career, or is he still being held captive during the mod timeline?

Perhaps use some of the neo-nazis parties staff of OTL Germany? Like NPD and Holger Apfel for the 2005+ time frame. For the 1964-2000 timeframe, members of the Deutsche Reichspartei (DRP) and Gesamtdeutsche Partei (GDP)? They are not exactly nazis but all I can think of ^^
That's exactly what we're doing. :) One way or another, current-day right-wing nationalist politicians would find a welcoming environment in a post-Axis victory world where nationalist/fascist regimes rule Europe.

About Rudolf Hess - didn't he go mad? I recall him once saying something to the effect of: "I know why Germany has lost the war - the Jews poisoned our drinks."
